The game is scheduled to be played at the Stadion Rote Erde on Wednesday 31st of October 2012 with a kick-off time of 6PM. Preview. The NextGen Series continues on Wednesday and in Group 5, Borussia Dortmund host Liverpool in what is an important game for both sides. Borussia Dortmund & Liverpool havenât got off to the greatest of starts in this seasonâs NextGen series and both managers will be looking to kickstart their campaigns. Dortmund & Liverpool occupy the bottom two places in Group 5 with Dortmund sitting in 4th place and Liverpool sitting in 3rd position. Those positions could be argued as being false because the four teams in the group havenât played the same amount of games. The table below proves this point and layouts the positions that the four sides sit in going into Wednesdayâs games.

Team Name. Number Of Games Played. Number Of Games Won. Number Of Games Drawn. Numbers Of Games Lost. Goals Scored. Goals Conceded. Goal Difference. Points.

Inter Milan. 2 2 0 0 4 2 2 6

Rosenborg. 1 1 0 0 1 0 1 3

Liverpool. 1 0 0 1 2 3 -1 0

Borussia Dortmund. 2 0 0 2 0 2 -2 0

As you can see from that table, Inter Milan have started well with 2 wins from 2 games and both of those wins have come against Borussia Dortmund & Liverpool. In their opening game, Inter beat Liverpool 3-2 before defeating Dortmund 1-0 a week later. This leaves Inter 3 points clear at the top of group and results like this show why they are the current NextGen champions. The Norwegian side Rosenborg sit in 2nd place with 3 points from the one game they have played. This was a 1-0 victory over Borussia Dortmund. As you can see, Liverpool sit third in the group after a 3-2 loss at Inter Milan which I have already mentioned. In the 4th & final place are Borussia Dortmund after two 1-0 losses against Inter Milan & Rosenborg. This makes Wednesdayâs game between Borussia Dortmund & Liverpool so important. Both sides want to collect their first points of the campaign and a defeat for either could see them start to be cut adrift and seriously damage their chances of qualifying from the group. A point could be a good result but both managers will be looking for the win. This should make for a good game... So, letâs take a look at the hosts for Wednesdayâs game, Borussia Dortmund. The German side, managed by Lars Ricken, havenât got off to the best of starts. As previously mentioned, two losses from their opening two games means that they sit bottom of the group with zero points and no goals to their name. Both of their games have been narrow 1-0 defeats and this will give Ricken and his young side hope that they can turn things around. Their most recent game, a 1-0 loss to Rosenborg, would have been massively disappointing for Lars Ricken. Coming into the game on the back of a 1-0 defeat at current champions Inter Milan, Ricken would have been looking for a response but that just didnât happen. Dortmund looked sluggish in the opening stages of the game and were made to pay in the 25th minute when Vajebah Sakor kept his cool and gave the Norwegian side a deserved lead. After that, it was all Rosenborg. Dortmund failed to create enough clear cut chances and could have been punished further by a good looking Rosenborg side but a combination of poor finishing and the bar stopped Rosenborg from increasing their lead. A disappointing night all around for Ricken & Dortmund and it leaves them with a lot of work to do if they are to qualify from the group. One thing that could explain some of Dortmundâs results in this competition is the age of the players. For those of you who have followed the NextGen series closely in recent seasons, you will be aware that the tournament is effectively a âUnder 19âs Champions Leagueâ This means that many of the players in the teams who have entered are 18 but Dortmund have played a strong mix of players from their Under 19âs and Under 17âs sides. As a result of this, Dortmund have brought in players from the Under 17âs side, such as Nick Weber, to the NextGen side. A consequence of this would be that the younger players, such as Weber, are playing against players who are older & more experienced than them and this could help explain, to a point, the results Dortmund have had so far. However, the younger players such as Weber will still a threat to Liverpool on Wednesday. The German has 7 goals in the domestic youth leagues and thatâs from 9 games! An impressive record and he will be a big threat to a Liverpool backline. Now, letâs take a look at the away side in Wednesdayâs game, Liverpool. Rodolfo Borrellâs side have played one game and have one defeat. As iâve previously mentioned, this was a 3-2 defeat to the defending champions Inter Milan. Inter did have most of the ball in that game and in the end, deserved to win but Liverpool did give them a scare. Two goals from Liverpoolâs attacking midfielder Krisztian Adorjan meant that Liverpool had clawed themselves within a goal of Inter Milan but they left the comeback a little too late. However, that fight and resilience will give Borrell hope going into Wednesdayâs game. He will also be able to call on some experienced campaigners. Adorjan seems likely to feature and Adam Morgan is also set to travel to Germany. The striker, who has two first-team appearances under his belt, has an excellent scoring record for the reserve side and would be a big threat to the Dortmund defence if he plays. Another player with a good scoring record who is set to travel to Germany is Daniel-Trickett Smith. The midfielder, brought in from Crewe, has been in excellent form this season for the Under 18âs with a wide variety of goals from a attacking midfield position. Trickett-Smith could be a good option to come off the bench for Adorjan if Borrell wants to change things around. So, an important game in prospect! Will Dortmund finally get some points on the board after a poor start? Can Liverpool get their first points of the campaign? Youâll find out this, and more, on the official match thread on the Not606 Liverpool board! Borussia Dortmund 2 - 1 Liverpool Goalscorers: Borussia Dortmund... Dominik Nothnagel: 30th minute. I reckon you could see Rodolfo Borrell using the likes of Jerome Sinclair and Jordan Ibe in this game. Sinclair for someone that has just turned 16 is a powerful boy. He's only going to get stronger.
Good shout on Ibe. Done well for the Under 18's this season and played the full 90 minutes against Inter. I would suspect Sinclair to come off the bench if he is in the squad. Adam Morgan has said on Twitter that he has travelled so I would suspect that he'll start with Adorjan just in behind.
Agreed. We've not got the likes of Suso & Sterling because of their involvment in the first-team but we've still got players such as Adorjan, Morgan & McLaughlin who are highly-rated by the club and could cause Dortmund some problems. With Inter having started the group very well, we need the three points to avoid being cut off near the bottom of the group. Big game but it clashes with the Swansea game on Wednesday! This game will kick-off on Wednesday at 7PM & the Swansea game will kick-off on Wednesday at 8PM. I'll try and update everyone on the happenings of this game whilst the Swansea game is ongoing.
Kick-off is tomorrow at 7PM Bluff. (No idea what time that is in the USA...) Would be surprised if the team was announced this early!
Seems to be in & out of the side. Started and played the full 90 in our 3-2 defeat to Inter Milan in the opening game of this competition. We were outplayed that day and I don't remember too much about his performance... Hasn't got a start since from what I recall. Had some time off the bench but that's about it. With the likes of Morgan set to be involved on Wednesday, I would suspect that he'll be on the bench. Need Redbrynner to log on and give a better view of his performances so far this season. A lot more clued up that most of us on Under 21's/Under 18's issues.
I just think Pelosi is going to be our next Michael Bradley/Stuart Holden type for the US, but could be much better.
Bump. Don't forget that this game is scheduled to kick-off tomorrow at 7PM. This is an hour before the first-team kick-off in their game against Swansea City. What better way to build-up for the first-team's game than watching the younger players in Europe! Streams are expected to be posted on this thread so if you can, watch this NextGen game and post your thoughts on this thread. You can then switch between this game and the Liverpool/Swansea game!
Unbelievable!!!!!!!!!! Two Liverpool games on in one night........And I have to go to the theatre to watch the bloody Lion King......Not happy... Would expect to see a strong side out for the u19s tonight. Sokolic, Sama, Robinson and Mclaughlin in defence.......Midfield of Pelosi, Trickett Smith and Coady.......and a front 3 of Ibe, Morgan and maybe Sinclair.....Will be a strong bench aswell im guessing with peterson, Nacho, Lussey to come in...... Should be a great game and hopefully a result for us..........But I wont be able to watch it as i will be sat firmly on my ass as a bunch of middle aged women all stand around me clapping in rhythm to Hakuna Matata.... Currently busy overdosing on Berocca (for its laxative effects) With ay luck i will be able to convince the missus I have a stomach bug and can spend the evening on ,my sofa
function of next gen is to prepare players.... if it prepared sterling and suso and wisdom enough that they could step up in the prem then thats great... we got 3 little gmes. robinson is a hard call. is it bette rofr him to play v swansea i na scratch 11 for the firsts or to drop down and travel? i don't see a squad up for this game so who knows. as peopel have said teixteria, mclaughlin, pelosi, ibe, sinclair, morgan are the next lot to be polished up. sorry but we are looking at selling most others on to make room/give them a career. sama, smith, roberts, adjoran and a few others will not make it.... but thats ok as long as the factory keeps making them good carrer and we take the cream.
Agree that many will move on. (Roberts has already hasnt he?) We wont get it right everytime though...And I can see some situations where we wish we had kept one and gotten rid of another....We have so many talented young footballers that attitude is going to be a massive deciding factor in who stays and who moves on.......
For some reason, I put down 7PM as the kick-off time. That is the kick-off time... In Germany. They are an hour ahead of us so the game kicked off at 6PM. Another big, fat for me! Here is the team news: (Better late than never...) Borussia Dortmund team to face Liverpool. Wilmes, Knystock, Deelen, Zeugner, Nothnagel, Deichmann, Bandowski, Benkarit, Dudziak, Dytko, Langesberg. Liverpool team to face Borussia Dortmund. Belford; McLaughlin, Smith, Sama, Jones; Coady, Pelosi; Ibe, Adorjan, Gainford; Morgan. - 39 minutes into the game and it's not good news from a Liverpool viewpoint. In the 30th minute, Dortmund were awarded a penalty and they tucked in home. Nothangel with the goal and Dortmund are winning 1-0.
