Just trying to get my head around the fact that this guy still hasn't signed with us.
Could it be that he is doing to us what Remy did to Newcastle?

One would have thought that if his team mate joined us, he would follow, knowing that it would be ideal for both to have a 'friend' in a new team / country.
OR is it that his current team have pulled up shy, fishing for other offers?

Definitely something fishy here ................ or am I just being negative?

    Your thoughts?

Not sure we have even made a formal offer. He's talking to 3 clubs, so could end up anywhere. Defenders please

Sky sports reporting that quite a few other clubs are in for him, so certainly not confirmed he is joining us. No doubt Rennes will be pushing for a bigger transfer fee as a result of increased interest...apparently the Russian clubs are keen so offers could get silly.

Aussie - Whilst they both have played for France, they are not team mates at club level. I am sure that the Remy signing will help us in our pursuit of Mvila as both are French, but imo it is unlikely to make a huge difference in the players decision on what contract to accept. As we have seen with Remy, money can and probably will play a major part in any decisions.

Hope we do sign him as I rate him quite highly, but I think we could cope with the midfield we have available should we need to (although several need to improve). It feels to me that we need a strong centre back (or 2 depending on when Nelsen goes) and a decent striker to replace Cisse.

IMO we can get better players then M'Vila at a better price, but we don't need any more midfielders this is an area that does not need strengthening. If we get him, then great, but if not it won't be so bad.

M'villa is a decent player, but to buy in a player with EPL experience, particularly if they are british, you are looking at double the price for someone his age and international experience, so what choice do we have finding better? Im not sure we are in the position and have the infrastructure to unearth talent that no one else has heard of, so we are always going to pay over the odds whatever we do, and with this in mind, I think (hope) that M'villa could be a good signing for us

Nope, Northolt, I think that as well. We've got who we wanted all along IMO.

Livermore would be a better option than M'Vila.

I thought M'Vila was the better player of the two of them? Not that I've seen either play mind

I have thought we were well covered in midfield, but from what I have seen about MVila has made me think he is a better ball player and passer of the ball, than what we have in defensive midfield now, and is also tough, and with Diakite seemingly in and out of fitness, think he would be a very good aquisition - only 22 I believe as well.

I think we do need him - he's a fantastic player.

Apparently the other 2 English clubs in for him are reported to be Reading and Fulham.
