We looked O.K. tonight but not world beaters by any stretch but we'll take the 3 points rather than the hospital visit we may have had after the slip on the banana. The next game against Ipswich looks to be a stern test of our mettle because they pummeled Sunderland tonight and they will be ready for the other country boys. I hope we can get a good away following as per usual and they can help the lads bring home the bacon. I really liked the vitality of Callum O'Dowda tonight and he looked bright when he was on the ball and essentially doesn't give up which wants me to see him improve even more and prosper with a team that is capable of who knows what?
Bolton were set up for damage control; 2-0 is a fine result. Ipswich will be an interesting challenge - they're overachieving against expectations, but to be where they are after 10 games is no fluke. I still think they'll struggle to maintain this form, and will fall to mid-table, but we're playing them at the wrong time.
O'Dowda desperately needs a goal because he's good at going past his man but seems to get confused to either try his luck or pass. Think he will become good when he gets one though. Was impressed with your favourite player tonight and also liked the look at Elliasson. He looked like he could do well out on the wing.
I think all games are a test. We survived the banana skin - now a draw at Ipswich would be a good result imho
I think we may have a couple of diamonds in the rough ROD and if they improve as I think they will then possibly look out league. One thing I haven't heard lately is that we are still carrying some injured players, which by my reckoning will only give us better strength when they return, and let's hope some noses don't get put out of joint when Lee has some difficult choices to be made. Right now we are looking as good, if not better, than we have in quite some time and long may it continue because the last thing we need is discontent and second guessing. Nice feeling really if I'm honest.
If you can play indifferently against struggling opposition, keep a clean sheet, and take 3 points, then there's a lot to be said for it. Like Nick H says, Ipswich are punching well above their weight and find themselves high up the table after 9 games, when most of their fans expected a relegation battle and didn't want Mick McCarthy to be their Manager for most of last season. It just goes to show what a bit of belief does. Given our recent run, I'd like to think we could nick a point at a place we seldom do well at.
