A very quiet day and probably a quiet week so thought I'd ask which of our crop of youngsters will be first to break through into the regular first team and make it big? Ward=Prowse? Shaw? Sinclair? Hoskins? or some-one else. Views.
Luke Shaw & James Ward-Prowse Also Hoskins, Sinclair, Stephens, Moore, Johns, Reed Turnbull & Sinclair (Basically all those on pro deals aged 16, msut have something special!!!!!)
I've got a faith in the new crop, but think WP is ahead at the moment. Great potential. Then saying that, I like Aaron Martin, & him came third behind Hitler & 'Arry in a most hated poll, so what do I know!
That was the most pathetic poll ever - I also am a big fan of young Martin great talent, with potential to go on to become a good player
Martin's improved a lot in the last year. Looks dependable at championship level so hopefully he can make the step up and play a role in the premier league. Like HistoryRepeating, I suspect Ward-Prowse is ahead of the other newbies, as he's had a couple of starts in the first team already. With the more generous bench next season I can see him being included in the match squads quite frequently. A lot depends on how much we strengthen though, I don't think we can afford to rely on the youngsters.
Ben Reeves. Came on for 25-30 against Millwall in the cup and looked very confident, has a good touch, and can pick out a pass. Would like to see him get some more chances.
I think if we had signed Aaron Martin from Man Utd and not Eastleigh, he would be a lot more popular. As for those names, I think a bigger role in the Dev squad and possible loan moves beckon. It's interesting that even a lot of the players released are getting signed by League 1/2 teams, so these lads must have something about them.
Not true, it's to see if they develop or not. Many youngsters sign pro deals at 16, hardly any of them make it.
I think it's mainly because our academy has a good rep, so teams are willing to take a chance on the released players. There's a big difference between league 1/2 and the premier league though.
Also Centre Backs always seem to mature later so he should only continue to improve. JWP looks like an excellent prospect as does Reeves. Theres alot of hype around Shaw. Hopefully Hoskins will make it, went to my school and hes a good guy and hes always scored goals for the youth/U21s.
My guess: JWP will be the first to start seeing the pitch in league games. Stephens will be the first to feature in the starting lineup on a semi-regular basis. Shaw will be the first to assume a key role.
No one's mentioned Callum Chambers yet. He was one of the 4 who got called up to the first team. The lad knows where the onion bag is.
Its going to be tough for any of them to break into a Premier League side. Are any of them better than what we already have and, I suppose, what we might buy?
