I wasnt expecting that. I was expecting the new kit or season tickets or a new signing (dale Stephens) What an anti-climax. What do you think of the news?
There's no pleasing some people. Dale Stephens would have been more of an anti-climax as it was practically smattered everywhere. Cracking news, but some people only want the big news, no good having nice kit, tickets unless you keep a stable core of a team.
It was good news. Wasn't worth everyone on Twitter messing their pants in anticipation of it though. Nobody even said it would be big news, just news. Don't understand why everyone got so excited about it.
Hahaha I bet DTLW is feeling very stupid now. he was all over twitter yapping on about it being Dale Stephens
It's your fault that you thought it was an anti-climax, evolution, as you built it up in your own head that it was going to be big news... #buildingyourhopesupbeforeinevitablybeingunderwhelmedbythenews
The pieces of the jigsaw are slowly being put together by Nigel and Nicola. Very soon it will all be finished. Season tickets sorted, new shirt sorted and a team ready to take the Championship by storm sorted. Look out everyone Saints are on their way back and en-route they have a few scores to settle. My goodness you just have to admire these two blokes. I am glad some of the impatient Nippers (there you are a reference to my living in Hampshire) on this message board aren't running our club for they would be wetting their pants every five minutes. Ever so pleased as a Berkshire boy to see Reading get through this evening. I think they will be too powerful and experienced for Swansea in the play off final.
New kit probs won't get released until July time, when the players return to pre-season training Announced that Jaidi has signed a contract extension until the end of next season, this does not mean he will play week in week out but he has the experience to help guide the younger players to become top players Good deal, well done NC and NA
Not sure I would have kept Jaidi on, he's one of those i would have let go with dignity. Think he'll be badly found out in the championship, as in the last few weeks he was wobbling in League 1. IMO Martin should be given his chance.
Adkins is the best judge on whether he's fit enough. He's been there and done it before, so we know he's capabe.
You have to admit slow or not he has more than earned his extension, he has been another brick at CB. Especially in the last 6/8 matches. I am not surprised although he may struggle..........
Got to say....i was surprised to see big J get a contract but as already mentioned NA is a much better judge of the players than me....at this moment in time the whole Saints set up can't do wrong and as far as i'm concerned i'm behind any decision they make..... COYR!!!
For me i can see that NA and NC are probably looking at him for his experience in the CCC and will be playing a player/coach role!! I do forsee us signing another CB.. as i think it will be a gamble to put Aaron martin straite in to the cb role and Seaborne asbit of a liability!! Soo NA has made the right decision
Jaidi wobbling in the last few games? I can only recall the backpass at Brighton that led to them scoring, but apart from that, he was immense. Winning everything in the air and using his experience to read the game very well from the back. He's got fitter the longer the season has gone on, which I presume is down to Adkins having more control over those sides of things instead of his predecessor. So I imagine Jaidi will be fully fit in pre-season and ready to go in August. Good signing and good news.
I most certainly agree CBK.....Yes he made a dreadful mistake at Brighton......but he has more than atoned for that in other performances.
I personally like Jaidi, he's the sort of centre back we were crying out for for years, and if he was five years younger this would be great news. However, as it is he's fine if all the opposition do is pump it long, but Joe Kuffour ran rings around him in the Rovers game. And that is what i'm worried about in the Championship, on balance he could be more of a liability than an asset. Yeah, he might be OK as back-up, but personally i'd rather see Martin brough through in that situation. And we do have something to lose by keeping him on, unless of course he has agreed to play for nothing next season. Although, perhaps Adkins is anticipating us being more defensive as a whole next season and playing deeper. In that case his lack of pace wouldn't be too much of a problem...
As well as he has done this season, I do believe he is begining to look a little lacking in pace and that may get found out a bit more frequently in the Champ, and for that reason I am expecting a new centre back to be signed to accompany Fonte, nonetheless a great influence in the squad a very able deputy to cover injury, and in certain games where the opposition have power rather than pace he could be preferred choice.
