With Conway and Cowie and hopefully Taylor, signing for the club. Its like a breath of fresh air, compared to last season. I don't mean they are better players than our departed so called stars, but I think they will try much harder (excluding Bellamy), MM will not accept anything less. The weekly wages the three above will be on, will probably total less than the percentage the club paid Wigan weekly for Koumas . I cant wait to see what other players, will also be arriving, but I think they will give 100% as well . That's all we can ask. Doing it the Malky way, wont increase the debt either. I'm really looking forward to the new season, and I think we are going to do really well.
DJ must be credited with a number of things, including two top 6 finishes and an FA Cup final. Importantly from a longer term perspective, he was key in pushing through the new training facilities MM has inherited a thin squad but a club with a sound infrastructure which makes the club attractive to new players as has been mentioned by recent signings. Couple that with his own reputation as a manager and our ability to recruit talent should be high. Sufficient funds from the board to seal the deal and we will be in a good position. Like you Rhondda (though it was known as the Rhondda Liar when I lived there) I'm looking forward to the Malky Way!
Must agree with remote about DJ, he done well right upto the last few weeks when things seemed to have fallen apart. I think that some of your "stars" thought they only needed to turn up at times. As good as DJ was for Cardiff City over the years the time had come for a fresh approach but I think the last 6 years of improvement has made the Bluebirds a club where many players would be happy to join. I don't expect instant results from Malky but the promised land should be his aim.
With several new signings on board the pre-season friendlies will be more meaningful - if only for us to get first views at the new guys. Who's up for a weekend at the Bournemouth seaside on the 23rd? I've been away for 2 weeks so correct me if I'm wrong but are Wales playing Australia at CCS on 10 th August - the night we are away at Oxford in the Carling Cup? If so, great planning all round - NOT!!!
There is that 'debt' thing again. what debt is it? ( besides the Sam debt which isn't going up down or anywhere else) Lets stop using the word can we? We have bills, like milk bills and wage bills. People generally think of 'debts' as things you haven't paid when you should or outstanding bills. I don't think for the most part that we have any of those any more. I know we did have historically but we paid them all, unlike clubs who go into admin to avoid them In any event what MM does might increase the weekely BILLS but if he succeeds the bums on seats and the shirt sales etc will compensate for it
