Super duper new Southampton have another tough away fixtures at the reigning champions Man City. When is this excitement?: Saturday 2nd November, 3 pm - don't miss it! There are plenty of positives though: We have got the bad vibes out of the system We made no clear errors in defence in the last game Man City's defence looks vulnerable to the high-press Live wire Djenepo is likely to be available again Man City odds to win are only at 90 % Team news: Southampton are sure to bring back Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings our two largest goal threats with, hopefully, Moussa Djenepo adding some much needed unpredictability to our attack and Cedric Soares looking to add some solidity at the back. My favoured line up: McCarthy, Soares, Djenepo, Bednarek, Stephens, Danso, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Boufal, Redmond and Ings. With no left back in the squad someone will have to play out of position and I am hoping Cedric or Djenepo will be able to fill the void. We need someone who can hold the ball up in midfield or push The Blues back and Boufal or Djenepo could do this. Fortunately Ings and Redmond will keep the City defence under pressure and this is where we can snatch a goal. Prediction: I remember not too long ago when Saints had a good record of beating City and Gareth Barry always aided this by generously offering us an own goal... Aguero will score and Sterling is a danger but I reckon we can get a goal or two, we can but dream! Please add your positive thoughts to this thread .
That Barry OG is still one of my favourite goals at SMS. It's just the way he calmly slotted it into the bottom corner, giving Hart no chance. Clearly been taking finishing lessons from Aguero in training.
We did grow in confidence as the match went on and apparently did quite well at the end. So hopefully that was us putting the fear from that match I wont bring up behind us and we can be a bit more assertive at the weekend.
Never go to a concert where the band has a song called ‘Saints Are Down’ and is a massive Man City fan.
In all seriousness, whilst the cup game saw some improvement the performance was still pretty poor and really don't think we can get anything from Saturday other than keeping their score as low as possible. In reality we need to get it right on and off the pitch for the Everton game and at all costs avoid another home defeat.
Agreed. This Saturday is all about damage limitation, again. So why is there a tiny spark of hope somewhere in the dark chasm of my footballing soul?
