If Hessenthaler does go in the summer (which I think he will) there is one man who could do the Job very well and possibly win the league and that mans name is......Micky Adams. He has a great track record in this division with a much smaller budget at Vale. The fact that they are now in administration means that he will surely want to move away and come to a club that has a budget to give him. He was managing in the championship last season with Sheffield United which proves how well he has done at this level of the game. To finish off he is an old gillingham player, unlike hessenthaler, has had a very good managerial career and will likely have some emotions for the club. Thoughts or any other candidates?
Yawn......and how many jobs has he been sacked from. Another journeyman manager plying his trade in the lower leagues. IF....you wanted another manager, you'd want one that has a proven track record of loyalty to a club in the mould of Dario Gradi etc. Not one who jumps from club to club like some prom****** bed hopping ***** whose sole goal is financial gain and notoriety. Rotherham anybody??????? Its a bit like looking for a good builder....if they're readily available, they're not much good.
yes because dario gradi (a man in his 70's would jump at the chance to manage gillingham rather than stay in his rather safe role at crewe)
DI CANIO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He would be awesome have more fun watching the mangers box than the game hahaha
Hess will almost certainly be here next season because he's got a year left on his contract. Scally will come out soon and say something like "we've been very unlucky with injuries blal, blah, blah. The manager knows whats needed and I'm sure next season we will get promotion." Then this time next year when we're mid table again and crowds are down to below 4000, he will be able to say Hess's contract is not being renewed, but it won't cost to get rid of him then. I for one (after 25 years of season tickets) am not renewing if Hess is still in charge, because I'm not driving up to Priestfield every other week to watch teams out think and out battle us as they have this sesason. I'll wait and see what the new season starts like, but I will pick and choose my games. I won't come again this season, so in effect I've paid for two games with my season ticket that I won't be going to. I'm sick to death of Hess's excuses and lack of tactics and I just can't stomach it any more.
i see steve coppell has gone to crawley as director of football,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,boy could we do with someone like him
As much of a moot point it is discussing a new manager while we still have one in charge (and for the record I don't see him departing during the summer) I would love to see Sean O'Driscoll at Priestfield. Very unlikely I know, but look at the effect Aidy Boothroyd is having on Northampton...he was managing in the Premier League not too long ago.
If Hessenthaler was to go I would like to Sean O'Driscool but I think we would probably look into non league for another manager, maybe Nicky Forster, who is not having the best time there as they don't have a very good squad at the moment but he done well at Brentford last season and was unlucky not to get a contract, but I think Hess will stay. I can't believe Coppell has gone to Crawley, he must be stupid to go there when he is such a good manager, he must cost a lot aswell to get him there however like when Sven went to Notts county he will attract very good experienced players to the club. I wonder if he will actually be named manager, as if you remember he is retired after losing 2 game at Bristol City and leaving 2 game into the season last season, but he left early before at man city. I wish we could afford to have him at Gillingham though as I think he is one of the best English managers as he done wonders at Reading and has so much experience he knows how to do a good job but still I don't understand why someone of such a high calibre drops down so low, he may not have done well at Bristol City but he has still had offers at other clubs at the Championship level or League 1.
There's not much chance of Hess being sacked but if he was Forster wouldn't get anywhere near. It would either be Adams (due to his links with the club) or Martin Allen because he could simply scare the team to promotion. Or Steve Bruce ahaha!
