    I have a theory chaps.

    Please bear with me here.

We know fatty likes to generate consumer interest in his brands via the employment of various mind games.
Think how he built his business..... 90% closing down sales left right and centre to hook people in at the thought of a bargain... only to find the stores had been closing down for years.

Closer to home, the '10% discount' we as members in the club shop are afforded seems really decent.... until you find out that it's only on non promotional items.

Try finding a non promotional item in a Toon store and it's as rare as a healthy lunch for Obi because again, tubbs jacks up the price to make it seem like you are getting a so called 'discount'.

Given the above, it's therefore no stretch of the imagination to think that all this current white noise about Carver being given the job full time is a stunt, orchestrated by Jabba himself to strip us down to the bare bones emotionally... before good old Mike rides to the rescue with a decent manager and a sack full of cash in the summer... thereby starting what he hopes is a revival in on field fortunes... as well as off field fortunes.

Shakespeare summed it up in Henry IV pt 1 when he penned the following to reflect the then young prince Hal and his desire to reform himself (the beginning of his ascendancy to become Henry V)...

like bright metal on a sullen ground, My reformation, glittering o'er my fault

It basically says that a reformation/bounce back has greater impact if set against a dark past.

I just hope my flash of inspiration proves correct otherwise the appointment of Carver full time will cause me to spontaneously combust with Beel.

I was in Shearer's when Shakespeare walked in and the fella behind the bar said " get out you're bard ".

I like that theory, it’s much better than say Carver being appointed, however I can find one flaw in this. Ashley don’t care, he doesn’t want to come riding along like a prince on a horse, because he knows we will punch the horse and he will fall off. I think his main concern is becoming the Richest
If Ashley cared in any way shape or form, he himself would come out to say one newspaper for an exclusive and say, look what we have done with the cups is wrong and he is going to change that, the S-Direct adverts are staying and that is his prerogative as owner, but he has managed to get us not only into a stable financial position, but a financial situation we could thrive under and he could agree to end this period of austerity.
I reckon the only way i would see this would be if i were to smoke a hell of a lot of crack!

I have a nice image of West Ham beating us 0-3 on the last day, relegating us with Carver screaming 'A horse, a horse...' before being unceremoniously tore apart by the enraged mob.

Personally I'd put quite a few conspiracies over this one, Albert. Ashley has had many an opportunity when we've been rock bottom to do something to 'shine', and hasn't taken it. Pardew, Kinnear, Wise, this January, last Summer when we had such a painful and dismal end to the season.

I'm afraid history repeating is the only phrase that fits. Ashley will continue to massively underwhelm or downright disappoint with his decisions until he disappears, which he will do in his time, not ours. There will be no mass influx of players, Carver will be the one telling us all how wonderful it is we've brought in four over the Summer and, eventually, either by mistake or by design we will be relegated. I can easier see a Summer of practically no investment, a job for Carver and a deliberate attempt at relegation next season than I can see your Shining Knight scenario.

It doesn't matter who we buy in the summer, if Carver is manager his total ineptiude and all round ******ery will see us relegated next season.

I may indeed be over thinking it mate.
If I end up being half right though I'll gladly bow to board pressure and finally get my fat hairy arse out in Fenwicks Window.
This was Bernie Slaven delivering his promise in Binns Window....

As long as Ashley is charge we will always have bouncebackability....that is of course solely due to the fact that he's a fut can't. That aside we're fooked!

Just get relegation over and done with this season, not like the last time when we swanned around down the bottom for a couple of years before eventually dropping.
