Hope he shakes things up - or at the very least give some true opposition now to the current 'corrupt self serving shower of ****e' in Westminster

That's bad news for labour. They've given in to idealism.

Just another nail in the Labour Party coffin for me, he looks like a right useless prat, should be a seamless transition.

Wasn't he ranting yesterday about the way we went about them drone attacks being unlawful?

None of the candidates were very inspiring tbh but Labour have just cast themselves into the political abyss for the foreseeable future.
Welcome to 15 years of Tory rule.

Agree re (temporary) demise of labour - IMO they need to come out of past dogma to address current working class issues not issues of benefit people - they've lost their way - need to appeal to the new disenchanted class - of all candidates liz kendall may have been the one to do it but ... KTF and ETU (omg - works in politics !!!)

    Let's see what happens.

If he tanks then i think the only hope Labour has is if they go cap in hand to David Miliband in a couple of years and beg him to lead them into the next general election.

Think I agree with that to a certain extent but who is going to highlight the other side compared to the clone type career politicians who are there for the career both in and after parliament?there are other ways than austerity, universal basic income for one? the right for the lower paid to be able to afford somewhere to live near our major cities. ( it,s the same over here in Oz) the right for everyone to a free education, the Tories welcome an uneducated section of society, the right to free health care for all, not based on your ability to pay. Might be idealistic/utopian but someone has to fight for it

The political equivalent of waking up and finding out that Ian Holloway has taken over your rivals as manager.

As a life long Labour supporter, thats it for me. Cannot believe they have just voted for a guy who wants to take the party back to the dark days Michael Foot, beggars belief.

Could this lead to a splinter group from MP's quitting labour and forming a new party?

Just can't see anyone taking him seriously. He'd look an embarrassment in a gathering of world leaders. Looks like Tory rule for the foreseeable.
If he wants to argue legalities in favour of those who wish to kill me ( who don't observe legalities when trying to do so) . he won't get any support from me.

He seems like an honest enough bloke but I can't see him gaining any substantial new support for Labour, much less winning back the votes they lost to UKIP and the SNP. The main people who have been backing him are naive lefty champagne socialists, who would still vote Labour if they put a monkey in a red rosette.

He's got some good policies but most of them aren't workable without printing more money which is bad bad bad.
