The new direction? And why Harry had to go?

I've just had a thought, I'm not sure if anyone else has mentioned similar so sorry if they have.

I'm wondering whether Levy has realised that challenging for 4th is as high as we can go with our current setup when competing with the cash of various other clubs.
It is clear we can't compete in transfer fees nor wages.
The new stadium will help but I'm wondering whether he's crunched some numbers and decided it won't be enough.

If that is the case then the only chance we have is some sort of youth conveyor belt of players coming through. There are rumours of this Txixi bloke coming in and he would bring background info on barca's system.
I also think he was interested in Rodgers. He is a big advocate of the same system and goes out to Spain occasionally to swap (steal, lol) ideas.
The new training ground and facilities are now done, I think, and he probably wants to see some return on that investment within the next couple of years.

Now, as we all know Harry hasn't been the greatest at rotating the squad. It's this rotating, allowing youngsters experience in non-mickey-mouse games that will be most beneficial to their development.
Maybe Levy saw this and is after a pro-youth manager.

Anyone think this could have any possibility?
    Flame away my friends :)

i believe that is something along the lines of what he thinks...and we will have to be patient with him to see if he made the right shout...if we mess up..i believe that further changes will be made because i doubt that Levy will cut off his face to spite his nose and stick with a failing regime.

    there are alot of things.

i could say that Levy plans to sell all our big players to fund a new stadium and maybe Harry did not want that so the parting was inevitable..i hope im wrong as that does mean we are in the deep one and it is the only plan of action that would make me feel disgruntled at Levy, even then i would have to figure out wether we had a choice in this conclusion or not as a club...in which case i would back Levy once more because we need a new stadium to generate more money and then eventually create another great squad..if we can....its not bloody easy...or maybe Levy wants to generate serious money from CL football but felt that even though we have improved with Harry..he cant trust Harry to spend the money wisely in order to create such a strong team that Levy desires...or felt that he does not believe that a man who thinks the Spurs fans are 'stupid' for demanding 4th will be that botherd if he fails to get 4th since he already has his excuse lined up. and lets be honest he is obsessed with players from his former clubs instead of expanding his horizons..i think most of our cosmopolitan signings have been made by Levy...either way i am just going on possibilities and racking my mind like the rest of the Spurs fans will be.

but we just dont know...there are so many angles going on..and i suppose we will just have to see what fruits time bares for us.

At the very least, Levy wants Caulker to play in the first team next season - and, judging by recent transfers, expects the likes of Coulibaly, Falque and Ceballos to feature.

In fact, since Levy came in we've had one eye on youth - David Pleat's brief (which was before levy took over, but he was kept to it) was to find young English talent in the lower divisions to bring on, and the idea remained when Arnesen took over. Comolli got away from this, but once he was out the door we went back to it.

Looking at our academy and (a few) reserve players, we're clearly bringing in players from far and wide to come into the team and, it has to be said, get around the 6+5 Rule...
    Coulibaly (Ivory Coast)
    Veljkovic (Serbia)
    Ekong (Holland)
    Zapata-Caicedo (Columbia)
    Dombaxe (Angola)
    Gomelt (Croatia)
    Bentaleb (France)
    Falque, Ceballos (Spain)
    Luongo, Gallifuoco (Australia)

The problem is that for every Dawson/Lennon/Walker, we've had a Davenport/Reid/Gardner - whilst our record on overseas starlets has been miserable, with Dervite, M'Poku and Pekhart all failing to step up into the first team, whilst Taarabt gave us countless reasons to keep him out of it.

Lots of the ones you mentioned as successes/failures were brought in at 18+ or we're already in someone else's first team.
I think for proper youth development you have to be looking at 15 and under. By 17 they _could_ already be good enough for the prem as a few have shown in other teams.
I have to admit I know very little about the current youngsters you mention.

Also, for a youth plan to work, we need to set up a progression strategy that isn't just sending people out on loan. All the teams throughout the club need to play the same way with the same system so players stepping up a level can slot in more easily.

I think its time to go in a completely radical direction. Yes, I do enjoy successes as much as the next man, and would I give anything for long term success? Again the answer is yes. So if Levy has a long term plan in mind, such as getting rid of all our 27+'s I will wholeheartedly support him (in hindsight).

The problem is that as fans, we are extremely fickle. No matter who we are, once we get the slightest sniff of success, we demand to either stay at that level or advance immediately, never considering that perhaps its possible to go back 2 steps in a year, to go forward 5 in 10.

It is THAT my fellow fans that we should demand of a club. A strong chairman, who has the courage to tell us to **** off when things go badly, safe in the knowledge that in 5/10/15 years time we will be praising his forethought and business plan. The sheer cockiness to know he is in the right, and that when the time comes we will go cap in hand to him, begging his forgiveness.

Will I be pissed off if we finish 8th playing Naughton, Falque, Colibaly or Luongo? Yes. Yes I will, no doubt.
BUT the rewards in however many years it takes will be worth it. Just imagine. A white jersey (navy/yellow whatever design) lifting that Premier League trophy. That my friends is worth waiting for. That is worth mid table mediocrity. That is worth losing our best players right now if necessary. That my friends... is a future we deserve.

Sundance - while fans are fickle I think there is something else to consider, personality. I'd be fairly happy to gamble a few years of 4th/5th for the possibility of big silverware in a few years.
However, it is still just a possibility and to some that is too much of a gamble and they'd rather enjoy the relative success now. I can see where they are coming from.

What is certain is that we'll never get everyone to agree
