Sunderland boss Steve Bruce has targetted Bolton striker Ivan Klasnic as the man to partner Asamoah Gyan to spearhead the Black Cats charge for European football next season. The Croatian striker has endured a tough time at the Reebok stadium having featured just 20 times since 2010. The 31 year old is desperate for first team football and wants to stay in the Premier League. In a brief interview Bruce stated 'He's a good striker but we'll see what happens in the summer'. Klasnic scored against Sunderland in last weeks match which resulted in a 2-1 Sunderland win. It is believed that Bolton boss Owen Coyle would accept an offer in the region of 1.5M for the Croatian hotshot.
Think this tells us just how much this lad wants to play football. After reading this, i really hope he gets a chance to prove himself again .Illness and kidney transplantationIn January 2007, it was reported that Klasnić suffered kidney failure. On 25 January 2007, he received a kidney transplantation from his mother à  ima, but soon it was reported that his body rejected the new organ.[5] On 23 March 2007, he underwent surgery to replace the rejected kidney, this time receiving a kidney from his father. The second transplantation was a success, and Klasnić stated that his doctors told him that he "would be able to continue playing football." However, in August 2007, the doctors at Werder Bremen forbade him to train due to inability of his body to withstand heavy physical strain. In September 2007, doctors finally allowed Ivan Klasnić to attend full training after he was absent for about 6 months. He then joined the team and made a couple of appearances in the club's cup activities and also appeared in a few matches for the second team. Finally, on 24 November 2007, he was selected to start for Werder for the first time since December 2006, and played 65 minutes for his team in a Bundesliga match against Energie Cottbus. Klasnić completed his comeback on 15 December 2007, scoring twice in Bremen's 5ââ¬â2 victory over Bayer Leverkusen, playing 85 minutes. In March 2008, Ivan was recalled to the national team after a year of absence. He became the first player ever to participate at a major tournament after a kidney transplantation when he played at Euro 2008 and scored against both Poland in the group stage and against Turkey in the quarter-finals. Plus this shows us just what he can do, so i say yes, he's obviously got something... I like Klasnic, he's always a handful. I'd imagine he'd be an option rather than first choice, unless he earned a spot, and ã1.5million is a steal. Not against this one at all. Goal record throughout career is 1 in 3, many as a substitute. That's very good indeed.
Bruce seeking the cash from Sunderland to ensure a Klose encounter By COLIN YOUNG Last updated at 11:07 PM on 12th May 2011 Comments (0) Add to My Stories Share Sunderland are leading the chase among Barclays Premier League clubs for Germany international Miroslav Klose. The 32-year-old Bayern Munich striker is available on a free transfer and will have a stream offers from across the continent as numerous clubs scramble to raise his current ã120,000-a-week wages. Sunderland boss Steve Bruce knows that although the former Kaiserslautern and Werder Bremen striker is available for nothing, owner Ellis Short will not smash his wage structure to add Klose to his squad. But it is a measure of Sunderlandââ¬â¢s ambition, and Bruceââ¬â¢s desperation to spend the Darren Bent transfer money wisely that he has made the first enquiries to Bayern and Kloseââ¬â¢s representatives. World Cup pedigree: Miroslav Klose has netted 61 goals for Germany in 107 appearances Klose would prefer a move to London if he is to finish his career in England, but Sportsmail understands no clubs from capital are interested. Back in Germany, Kloseââ¬â¢s first club Hamburg and Werder Bremen, are among the rivals for Kloseââ¬â¢s signature, while Sevilla, Valenica and several Turkish clubs are also interested. With Bent gone, Danny Welbeck due to return to Manchester United after his loan spell and Fraizer Campbell out for the season, Bruce needs forwards urgently this summer. He would like to re-sign Welbeck on loan, but faces competition from Everton and Bolton, and has been linked with Roman Pavlyuchenko and Lorientââ¬â¢s Kevin Gameiro. Bayern, meanwhile, are 'cautiously optimistic' of signing Manuel Neuer from Schalke for ã23m by the end of the month. T
ã120,000 a week, haha dream on. helluva player mind, but so he should be to warrant that amount of salary..
He won't expect 120k at his age i don't think. It'd be a gamble, but if it paid off it would be great. If he flopped it'd be Bruce's job. Was never quick so that's not a big deal. Much as summat tells me it'd be a bad move, i can't sit here and say it wouldn't be an exciting signing, despite his advancing years. Hmmm.
Am i the only one that thinks Klasnic would be the better option of the 2. That's my gut on it. Klose hasn't been great domestially for a few years really, he turns up for the Tournaments, every time.
Something striking about both of these players....their age! 30+ is not good for a striker, unless he plays off the bench, and would only last for 1-2seasons before we were in the same boat again, might be good as a stop-gap, but for SAFC future, I'd have none of these.
So the paper says its a measure of Sunluns ambition?! What a 32 year old that they wont pay. This is surely a non-story. Its like being in for Rooney but ã200 k a week is too much. Not happenin. Klasnic always looks quite useful would be a ffair foil for Jan
Klasnic never plays a full game. He's had not one but two kidney transplants and although he has scored a couple recently his record isn't ower clever. Come on lads we don't need any more lame players. Mensah has his name on the physio's table now.
Paper Pap is all Syd. try the freedom of information act, see if Bruce realy does know owt about owt, football even,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,dont hold your breath.
We were linked with him before he signed for Bolton. Every year it seems like we are linked with loads of players by the press and nothing materialises. Then from no where we sign players that hadn't been mentioned. I think it will probably be the same again this summer.
