    No doubt football has changed probably starting in 2003 when Mr. Abramovich arrived on these shores

    The market with shrinking and values and wages had stagnated but his money shook things up as did later arrivals to the league most notably at Man City.

    We don't compete on that level and are in a much healthier financial position for but I can't stand fans making excuses that we're doing the best we can when we are clear making poor decision in the transfer market and CAN be successful without spending the same money

    * Demba Ba was a FREE transfer due to injury issues > We got Chamakh on a free
    * Squillaci cost 4M > Vidic only cost 6-7M
    * Arteta cost 10M > Scott Parker (player of the season) was going for 5M (or) Cabeye was 5M also
    * Ji Sung Park was inexpensive or Hernandez at under 6M
    * We bought Walcott > Spurs got Bale
    * We got Nasri > Spurs got Modric
    * Arshavin cost 15M > Van Der Vart cost 8M
    (DISCLAIMER - I'm not a Spurs fans they've just been better in the market than us...and it hurts to admit it!!!!)

    There are plenty of other examples of what would seem to be attainable players who are several levels about the crap we buy

    Our manager either doesn't have the same eye for a player or he can't improve them and only seems to ruin their careers but we certainly don't need to spend 30M on a player to be competitive!!!
