Apologies about my previous thread as it was not very clear. The player that is being eyed for a potential loan deal in January is indeed Anelka. Whether he fancies us of course is a different matter entirely but as the saying goes, if you don't ask you do not get.
Thanks Cerny! Anelka is an interesting character, definitely a class act. Chelsea definitely looked better with him on and Lampard off against Utd. Worth asking!
He's played for 8 clubs in 15 years. Isn't his brother his agent and takes a cut each time he moves? Anelka's been at Chelsea now for 3 years so his brother must be getting twitchy, time for some more cash! Don't want him, don't like the mercenary approach.
Cheers cerny, It was the post of 'Anelka ' by the other rs in houston, which prompted my post.. 'Is anyone good enough to play for the Rs?' Many on here dismissed this, but Anelka could well be the missing link. Waiting until January may well be the problem here. But then again, France won the world Cup '98 without a designated striker.
Are you serious? He may be a mercenary but he's one of the best strikers in Europe and was top scorer in the PL a couple of years ago. We are QPR- if such an opportunity were there you can't refuse it.
999 what's with the double spacing on your posts? Makes them look like poems ( they are of course beautifully written).
Of course you're right. It just seems sad that to compete in the Premier league we have to discard Lee Cook and 'hire' the likes of Anelka
If you told people 6 months ago we should sign swp and Barton I would have laughed at you... It's down to the player now
It is sad, but the club is going places. Unfortunately Cook is no longer a second tier player let alone a PL winger.
Hey no problem, I was just curious. Attention to detail is a very welcome trait, especially in a firefighter!
As it was intended. Back to Anelka, did he ever play alongside SWP at Man City or Chelsea? Wonder how it worked. Suppose he could have been in the City team with Barton too at some stage, but I am too lazy to look up all the dates. He's a sulky git, but undoubtedly a top class player.
What you actually said the other day Cerny is that we were getting in a player on loan from a London club for three months with a view to a permanent deal in January. You also said a member on here was 'warm' when he suggested Spurs, although that makes absolutely no sense if it's Anelka. I would really, quite dearly, love you to explain away the above, but I know that won't happen. I fear you've just jumped on the Anelka bandwagon and are talking out of your behind again dear sir. PS. I'd take Anelka in a second.
I would ove to see Anelka at the club. He would be a different striker to the ones we already have, and has the expereince we may need to stay up. If we do sign him, and can provide him with the service he needs then hopefully we will be staying up, and putting more pressure of the likes of Swansea, Blackburn, Norwich (for example) etc etc.
would be great signing but he must be on over 100k a week so unless chelski pay some of it i can't see it happening.
