Have to say JET is by far the most talented player since Jacki graced Ashton Gate. When he goes on one of his mazy runs it is fantastic to watch. Anybody think of any better
When we had clayton blackmore on loan think we went unbeaten and he got his place back in premier league middlesboroughs starting 11 after think john ward/ joe jordan? was manager he only played 5 games but was immense in all of them, cannot be put in the same class a jet and jacki but if he stayed longer maybe? I also rate tinnion highly and paul agostino who went on to great things in germany, on his day which was rare greg goodridge could be as good as anyone and of course andy cole/bob taylor. Were top players for us
JET was described by Arsene Wenger as having the ability to be a great player, not just a good one. I don't think we have seen the best of him yet if that is the case. This can mean that there will be games where he will frustrate but I think it is a price well work paying.
AW is a legend but didn't he finish before Jacki started? According to the title post he shouldn't even be mentioned! Based on success, Andy Cole must be the most talented in 'modern' times bearing in mind he's won premiership/champions league/England caps etc
Jackie 1992â1993 Bristol City apps 43 goals7 Walshy 1984â1989 Bristol City apps218 goals77 Andrew Cole 1991â92 Bristol City apps 41 goals 20 so JET is our most exciting player since Jackie!
Think the nearest we got to it otherwise in recent times was the season Lita got 29 goals. Also there was a spell when Scott Murray was at his peak and got 26 goals one season
I watched his first goal the other night in awe. He started 20 yards behind McFadzean, but went off like a train with only one thought in mind. I think he was hoping for a poor back pass which he could pounce on, but instead McFadzean got it stuck in his feet and JET just bundled him off the ball (thank god for a decent ref who saw a 50:50 ball) and finished with ease. He was seriously travelling. If you have not seen it on TV then try and find it. His commitment was 100% and his speed for a big man is quite something. He has a vision that is certainly premier level. That said, nobody can match Jackie in my eyes - but maybe if we make the play-offs with JET scoring 30+ goals, I might be persuaded (ever the optimist)
Gert Meyer - the perfect name for a Bristol Cty player, and briefly outstanding (before he got bored with English football)
In terms of "exciting" I would say JET is certainly up there. More recently Albert had a spell when he was unplayable. The season Murray scored all those goals from the right wing also deserves a mention.
Another sorry but I'm sure Alan Walsh scored 99 goals in 287 appearances for City. Don't want to believe wikipedia for everything??
