...and recovering from a hangover I have to say my opinion hasn't changed since yesterday. I don't think Neil Lennon is the man to turn this season around. There is clearly something fundamentally wrong with the team at the moment. I don't know if there's been a bust up or if it's simply down to Lennon's team selection and tactics but it's clearly not working. I suspect it's the latter: rarely starting with the same two strikers, midfield chopped and changed from game to game and the back four rarely remaining the same. Injuries have obviously played a part but when you have two strikers who complement each other and score goals (Hooper and Stokes) and Lennon regularly refuses to play them together you have to question his decision making. If Lennon is to stay he needs to stop chopping and changing so much and play Stokes and Hooper together in EVERY domestic game.
Missing Brown , Kayal and Ledley was always going to make it tough at Tynie , going there with five players who have never played there before wasn't the best decision either
I have no idea who a suitable replacement would be so I don't see the point in removing him However its not all his fault Are any of these players his first choices? 4 years of ****, 3 years of deteriorating success One constant.....Peter Lawell
Rangers have away games to Hearts and Aberdeen coming up as well. We'll see how things lie after that.
I reckon they'll win both of those with no other tournaments for them to worry about and an international break before then. I said on Friday that, whether we won yesterday or not, we're gonna be playing catch-up for the majority of the season. Lennon got the CB pairing wrong yesterday - the starting midfield wasn't his conscious tinkering but players let us down yesterday as well. Commons, Majstorovic, Wanyama and Bangura plain weren't good enough and the Hearts attacking players played well and took their chances. The team (defence in particular) needs to be more settled.
Stereo, I cannot see Hearts annoying their supporters by taking anything off Rangers. Neil Lennons team selections are mostly down to who is fit and available. Regarding Stokes I can see why many people are calling for his place in the team every week but it should be remembered that many, many Celtic fans regard him as being over greedy and shooting when someone is in a better position. This may be while he is left kicking his heals over the last number of games. He had 30 minutes yesterday, but the team was really closing down then. At the same time he did nothing. We will remain rotten without Brown Kayal and Ledley. We may be ok missing one of them but that is that.
This. As if Hearts would do Celtic a favour they will lie down to us as usual, as for Aberdeen not feared them since 2008, I said at the start of the season and I stand by it, Lennon will go after a miserable season for Celtic I felt he got lucky last season due to us trying to play in 4 competitions with a squad of about 14 players
