Unsurprisingly I woke today to various media sources reporting on 'bad boy' Joey Barton's actions yesterday..... Yet curiously very little on the multiple incidents relating to Arsenal players....

Call me a cynic but this is yet another example of the north/south bias evident in certain sectors of the media...

    Makes me sick.

Always the same. The press are a joke. I think everyone is going way over the top again. Barton should not be picking Gervino like that and was rightly booked. He overreacted to the Song thing but it was just gamesmanship. He did little wrong and was well handled by the ref. Gervino dived and deserved to be sent off for the slap. Song was naughty but nowt serious as we saw when him and Barton had a laugh afterwards. If Songs was seen he has to go but I'm not fussed what happens now to be honest. Can everyone stop calling it a stamp though, he stood on his calf. It doesn't even hurt that much, its just very annoying like when people nip you. Barton is never gonna be everyones cup of tea but I reckon he's a top player who understands how to compete. You want players like that.

Joey was helping him up after he took a terrible fall or maybe been shot by a Japanese sniper was going to give him the kiss of life and look at the thanks he gets. Slapped around the chops. He threw himself at the ground because he was so upset. Steve Taylor just said to the ref. He's been given the elbow offa Gerv. So the ref. rightly told him to leave and he's not playing any more today get in the bath, now. Wash behind your ears as well.

What worries me is will he be frustrated going into the derby? We need him to focus because a win saturday will silence a few critics. Nice to see Micky Quinn defending him on talksport.

I don't think anyone has mentioned any of our chances. Jonas had a decent chance and fired wide, Cabaye had a fantastic chance after Obertan put him through but scuffed his shot and Taylor could've scored from a header. The people I was watching the game with (a Boro fan and a Liverpool fan) thought we'd win the match from about 65mins onwards. I think MOTD showed all of Arsenal's attempts (9) but none of ours (6).

All MOTD cared about was Barton. They made us look crap and did not mention the great defending from Colo and Saylor.

What do you expect the producer supports one of Sunderland or Middlesbrough, Shearer and Lineker once made reference to it about 3 years ago.

Joey is never going to win with the media. Gervinho shouldnt have slapped him but Joey shouldnt have gone down like a girl, but what if it had been the other way round.
    They would have burned Joey.

Gervinho didnt impress, I actually forgot he was playing.

I loved Alan Shearer the player, but I'll admit I don't like him at all as a pundit. It's almost as if someone has told him not to be biased towards Newcastle, so he's gone one better and is increasingly becoming the exact opposite. I don't think he ever has a good word to say about our team on that programme.

ESPN goals app is brilliant! Get all the goals, highlights and events from an unbiased point of view without the **** analysis.

The quality is piss poor on my phone, but it's free so I can't really complain. Definitely not a service I'd pay for though.

Quality's not bad on my iPod, would've probably paid like £1 or so for it but not much more.

It's watchable if I hold my phone at arms length. I think the plan is for it to be a yearly subscription or something next season.

So will have to pay for it next year? Will see if I like it over the course of the season. Would prefer it if I had 3G so could watch it on the way home from matches for example.

Yeah it'll cost you next year, and I'm not sure it'd be worth it. I think maybe the reason behind the poor quality is so that people can watch it using 3G and not have to wait six years for it to load.

Now now, it's not so bad. You got Robbie Savage blatantly on your side. They did make plenty of the Song stamp on MOTD too.

You must realise what a nasty piece of work Barton is. He'll wind up a player, commit a nasty foul, bully someone at every opportunity and do this that and the other until they react and get sent off.

I'm not Newcastle's biggest fan but best luck for the season.

What about Raylor's 60 yarder that would have lobbed Scezezny if it was several yards to the left?

Does anybody know whether he meant that or was it an overhit ball back into the box?
