The more i think about this whole carroll situation, the more it stinks, and something is not right. The whole 'i want to stay crap' in the chronicle just hours before his request. These 'bids' for players as the window approaches (has happened in previous seasons - michael johson springs to mind), and the club 'frantically' searching for targets. This 35m warchest or 'wedge of cash' craig david keeps on going on about is non-existant - we will be lucky if we spend a net of 5m in the summer - instead of 3 or 4 £10m players it will be used on 2 or 3 jason roberts, puncheons etc. I know we have faired fairly well without carol so far this year - but i really think this will be our downfall, and in about 7 or 8 games time i think we will be on 34(ish) points (havent bothered to check the fixture list) - those 4 points lost now seem absolutely huge.
im not a fan of 'carol' anymore, but i dont know where this sudden request came from - maybe we will find out in a day or 2 (more likely not), but at the end of the day ashley could have done a blackpool and pretty much told him he was staying until atleast the summer - ppl may go on about unhappy players etc, but carol would have still gave his all (IMO) - now we are pretty much in the ****. Everyone knew we needed a striker to PARTNER carol, now we need 2. Despite what people say of ameobi (loyal, mackem destroyer etc) fact is he is pretty crap and past his best, same applies to lovenkrands. Leon Best is your typical average championship player - a 1.5-2m striker. The only striker that fills me with any hope is ranger, but he never gets any game time. I do have a bad feeling and think these 10-12 points will be harder to come by than most people think.

Everytime craig davi was appearing on my screan i was annoyed - it was like somebody had told him word for word what to say - doing all they can to buy, franyically searching, nothing they could do to stop him - all bollocks. No, carol is far from innocent in this saga, but ashley and lambarse have made themselves look pretty good, but it doesnt wash with me.Just when you think we are going in the right direction - BOOM - we will NEVER progress under this regime, and i think this whole **** is linked to hughtons departure. Sorry for the rant, but im not happy !

Tbh i don't know what to think. It does seem suspicious how in last nights chronicle he was saying he wanted to stay put, then it comes out he's handed in a transfer request. Hopefully we find out some more about it. He should have a press conference wont he ? But as i said in another thread we haven't lost a game since Carroll was injured. So that to me is a positive. Ashley best let Pardew spend the whole 35 mill! If we stay in the league we receive 40 odd million and not forgetting the T.V money the club will get. Carroll's gone now and time moves foward, so should we. But, when we play Liverpool i hope he gets some horrible abuse!

transfer fees are absolutely ridiculous these days - i remember the day when you would read in the paper Bobby (RIP) has a 30m 'warchest' and you would think - class thats 3 or 4 top, top players - now that wont buy carroll or half a torress. I still think we will be buying the likes of your bests, roberts, puncheons, routledges in the summer - e.g 1-2m players and certainly wont have a significant net spend in the summer. I honestly think tiote or enrique will be next. Luckily we have got 30 points already or we would be screwed

To be fair Paullow, £30mil will return that way as no way will Liverpool be able to sell Carroll for what they bought him due to the new UEFA rules coming in in June as these rules mean spending limits linked to club income come into place.
So we've sold him at the highest price we'd ever get but not necessarily the best time.

There's also a lot of mystery surrounding this injury. What's the betting he makes a rapid recovery with the Scousers? What if it's all been an elaborate charade to ensure he didn't get injured while negotiations were going on, with Fat Boy knowing a shedload of money was at stake?

Football is so corrupt these days...
We reject one offer then another, if you have money you can get whoever you want; even if the player has signed a 5 year contract! What's the point in the ****ing contranct if your going to sell him just after! FFS!

Er, to be able to squeeze £35m off some desperate scousers than have him walk away for nothing when his contract runs out.

Plenty of diffrent news sources quoting Carroll as saying he was told to leave and was pushed out of the club, some aren't the most reliable of papers but the Independent is the most reliable I've seen running this story.

They quote text messages between Carroll and his mate Steve Wraith, editor of fanzine Toon Talk.

How true this is who knows, but there is something not right!!
