Let's wait and see before we write him off, Canario. IMO, our chances of promotion would be greatly improved if he can caome back and fight for his place.
If he wishes to continue his career in any meaningful way he needs to perform for us to show us, or any suitors, that he is worth a place in their/our squad. Failure to do this and he could end up playing in lesser leagues than his abilities warrant.
It is a great shame because on his day Bassong is a top player, but when he gets one on him he is cr*p. Mentally fragile I would say in summary.
Maybe, but if 'managed' properly, could revert to the player who was such a rock in his first season here. More asset than liability - but the ball appears to be firmly in his court as to how badly he still wants to be a part of this new regime.
The problem is I'm a bit old fashioned. He should have got behind Adams, shown some leadership / fighting spirit and made sure the rest of the team did as well. He's paid a good deal of money to play football not to select the manager or evaluate the boards choice of manager. I think he has a bad attitude and I wouldn't want him in the team. It's very easy to do the right things when things are going well, but a in my view a person shows their true character when there backs against the wall. I agree when he's in the right mindset he would add to the team, however I also think if a few results went against us, he'd turn. I think we have sufficeint individual quality in the squad to get promoted without him and if Neil can get the balance and the spirit of the team right we don't need him. IMO the risks of involving him in the first team outweigh the potential benefits. Whatever happens between now and the end of the season I would like to see him moved on.
Not sure where the evidence is that he hasn't been managed properly. Its not as if Adams is the only manager he's had issues with.
We seem to have accepted Wes back after his comments and transfer request. Mostly due to the change of manager. Personally I don't see the difference between him and Seb, at least Seb has been profesional to the media. Personally Im just not that precious, if someone is a dick but having them in the team makes us better than without then I say play them. Why cut off your nose to spite your face.
Because you never know when they are going to be a dick again and what negative effect they may have on the team. Also discourages others from being a dick. For what its worth I wouldn't have had Hoolahan back either.
This sounds pretty positive: http://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city/...ch_city_says_captain_russell_martin_1_3927881 I can't imagine Rusty is saying these sorts of things without full authorisation from the club/manager, so seems to me we could see Bassong back in the squad very soon.
And if you omitted players for being dicks, I think the premier league would have to start playing 5-a-side! Bah!
It saddens me to say it, but I don't think Ryan Bennett is going to live up to his early promise. He doesn't seem to have pushed on in the past few season as much as I'd hoped he was going to, whether this be down to injuries/attitude or whatever. I really thought this was going to be a big year for him (actually I thought the very same at the start of last season) and that he and Tina were going to establish themselves as the top CB pairing in this division. For whatever reason it doesn't seem to be working for him, and I wouldn't be massively surprised if he moved on at some point in the next year or two. I personally would rather have Cuellar starting every day of the week and if Bassong settles himself back into the first team squad it's going to push Bennett further down the pecking order, and at this stage of his career that's no good.
Sadly you may be right. Although I think if Bennett put together a good run without getting injured he still has time, he's definitely been very unlucky on those. I've never considered his attitude - have you heard that it's not great? It's a shame because Ayala showed similar early promise, but then was very injury prone - now with a decent spell he is doing brilliantly for Middlesbrough.
With Ryan Bennett, I think it's mainly down to injuries. Given a run in the team he could push on further. Cuellar is 33 and Turner is 31, so we need to be planning for the future. Rob's comparison with Ayala is apt in this regard. Bassong could play a key role also, given that Hooiveld (31) and Miquel (21) are the only other left-sided options.
