So according to reports, Andy Hessenthaler believes Paulo Gazzaniga is worth a milllion pounds. Really for a League Two goalkeeper?

I have the greatest respect for Gazza but I would have thought he was only worth half that value. Is this Hessy's way of saying he is not for sale but if you really, really want him that is what it is going to cost you?

My thoughts remain unchanged, NOT FOR SALE.

I could not see a club paying a million for him even though he is great, think you are about right probably more like 500k or 600k, so sounds like Hess is saying he is only for sale if you can match that and if you do he is yours, not sure if I would want him to go for a million though.

Joe Hart was down here in league 2 with Shrewsbury not too many years ago, a talented young goalkeeper is hard to come by especially ones with reasonable competitive experience. People say you build teams from the back and it would be a hassle sorting out the defense for next year whilst having another Jack/Julian to worry about.

I hope Hessenthaler can find a few more players from the Spanish league, I know he said he is out there looking for rough cut diamonds, but lets hope he find some more, would be good to build up a team around players who are not good enough for the top flight over in Spain but are too good for League 2.

We might not have to even consider selling him too early, or for under a million yet if Wolves can get a decent price for Matt Jarvis - what we'd get as part of a sell on clause could be 'all' the finances we'd need to improve the team ( after clearing out the dead wood. )

It is just as much the manager's job to talk up sale values as it is to talk down purchase values but what Hessy is signalling is that senior clubs will not pick up Gazza for £200K or so. Remember Suderland paid £9M for Craig Gordon who had played his football at Hearts. Gazza for £1M is not silly at all.
Gazza has not looked as sharp as previously in recent weeks and his distribution was frankly poor on Saturday compared with the standard he had set in March and early April but he still looks a class act who could prosper at a higher level. Talk of keeping him is wishful thinking in my opinion. First of all he has no connections with this area. Secondly the personal rewards for a premiership or even championship squad role are massively more than Gills can offer. Thirdly he will learn more from a good senior club than he will at Priestfield (that is not criticism of the club it is a refection of fact though he might still benefit from a short loan back). Fourthly matt jarvis and Jack Payne tell a story of the guy who moved and prospered and the one who stayed and stagnated.
Gazza should go for a fair price with our thanks and appropriate added value clauses for Gills if his career develops. I just hope he does not settle for a fat rs on the bench role like Jason Brown did.

Have to disagree with you - IF he stays with Gills, Gazza will get plenty of 'opportunity' to learn ( if we don't sort out the defence next season )

I am not sure what our current situation is in regards to our debt other than rumours and it would certainly be wrong to speculate. However, for our club to get out of this league, we have got to hold on to our best players and that means Gazza. I have said before it is about US having ambition and next season Gazza should have been a League One player. But because our manager failed, along with previously failing to hold on to certain players such as Barcham, Cody, Bayo, Rooney to name a few we continue on this merry-go-round. Yes, I know he could not do much about it but this time he can...Gazza, Tomlin & Essam. Do these players believe our club has an ambition that can be achieved? Well I am sure we will find out contractually over the coming weeks.

An interesting Article highlighted via twitter earlier today...http://footballspeak.com/post/2012/05/07/Why-our-league-structure-matters.aspx

Take a read, the last two paragraphs about sum it all up, does Gazza really want to be part of that 70 strong squad.

I see the video is posted by "3gazzanigas"

1gazzaniga = can kick the ball a long way and accurately.

2gazzaniga = can also pass the ball over short distances.

3gazzaniga = if you can sit through about 5 minutes of kicking then you'll find out he can use his hands to save the ball too. Good job being a goalie.

If this video was posted on YouTube with the intention of finding him a new club then I think he should get rid of the people who made it.
