Not the wisest thing to come out with! http://www.clubcall.com/leeds-united/brown-blames-negativity-1407997.html However I do agree, the way we got on the players backs can't be good for confidence.
I read this earlier, and was saddened. We never got on the players' backs at the Forest and Watford games. Sorry Browny, but that's bullshit, and not bullshit I take kindly to. We're allowed an opinion, and if it's not on the players and they still get offended by it, **** 'em, they're not Leeds United material. Mainly because it's ****ing stupid to get offended by someone criticizing your boss rather than you yourself. That said, our fans at Elland Road are shocking by Leeds standards, even in our alleged singing stand. Here's a working link Bucks: http://www.clubcall.com/leeds-united/brown-blames-negativity-1407997.html
As the link is "unfound", the text is here. Leeds midfielder Michael Brown has said the negative atmosphere at Elland Road this season has been responsible for the club's poor home form. The Whites have lost on nine occasions in front of their own fans this season and Brown feels the large number of supporters' protests on matchdays has had a detrimental affect on the players. Brown said: "There's lots of things we're just not doing right at the moment. It's a shame, we've got a good bunch of players, a good team, good lads, but we certainly have to have a bit more grit and determination not to roll over. "I think our home form is one reason. Once we go one behind you can hear the place go flat and I think that kills us. "It's very difficult because we know the fans' frustration because they want success at the club and the frustration has gone on now for a long time and we've got to try and change that as a group and as a club and have everybody together. It's going to take a bit of time to do that." Brown added: "The group we've got, it's been happening for a while. When I came in I never thought it was a positive environment. I could see it was very difficult because at every home game - and we had very young players on the pitch - there would be a protest about the club and that goes on to the players straight away." I think he is talking rubbish. Since Warnock has been here, there has been hardly any Bates Out chants at all, no protests. In fact, the team lost 7-3 to Forest at home and there was hardly a murmur. He should have been here when we lost at Histon, or at Hereford. He needs to wise up and get his team to wise up and play like a proper team, not like a bunch of 7yo girls. Maybe he would prefer it if there were no fans at all? Bates certainly seems to think that is a better model.
1 example I was ashamed of at the weekend, the ball was bouncing towards tom lees who just got rid of the ball into the stand, the moaning and groaning at that mega pissed me off. No1 can stand there and tell me Elland Road is a good place to watch Leeds United I much rather go to away matches
YWBK - it was right in front of me. He had plenty of time to control the ball, and look at other options, one of which may have then been to play it out. Having seen later on how he fell over a blade of grass giving one of the oppo a free run on goal, I can understand why he just planted the ball in row Z. What I can't understand is why he still gets in the team, other than the others are even worse than him.
Hopefully Lees will now know not to make that mistake again. I don't mind the fans moaning like that when the lads aren't putting their all into it, but I only wish people would put as much effort making some noise to support them in the meantime. As it is, there's maybe 50-100 people who actively try to support the team all game, and the rest are content enough to clap/groan/chatter/check their phone/fold their arms/read the 4 quid Bates programme. Bet it's even worse next season when even more of our most fanatical fans boycott Elland Road and the crowds are down by another 3,000. Even if Warnock brings more people back, the atmosphere will still be empty. YWBK, spot on about away games. Last refuge now, it seems. And they still need a bloody 40 quid membership to qualify for those.
Thanks 666 & Iqbal Kissa, link added for you. Loads of players arent big enough to play at Elland road. That used to work for us when we had quality players in. If there not up for the challenge then there not doing us any favours and need to be shipped out. However, if the board/team/club can give the fans something to sing about then im sure the players will feel the benefit. Its been take take take for to many years now & the fans quite rightly find it much harder to be motivated when they feel they are being taken for a ride. Also, I'm sure Brown saying exactly what Warnock wants him to say
But if you think about it defenders cant win, Odea slipped conceded a goal got abused, Lees cut out the chances of that by hoofing it out but got abused, The tension is awful only time its been good was end of donny and first half birmingham
