It's all over the gutter press, Sky, the BBC and TalkSport. Stuart Pearce is branded a failure for fielding an experimental team in a meaningless friendly against a very good side, and suddenly every hack-journo and his dog clamouring for Harry to be named and appointed as England manager! This is despite the fact that, only yesterday, the FA made a very clear statement telling the press that it had no intention of rushing into things, and that it was intent on being respectful of both managers and the clubs that employ them. Respect is not something that the scum media seems to understand, and it certainly could not give a toss about Spurs. They seem to have made the casual assumption that it's all a matter of course that (a) Harry will be offered the job, (b) Harry will simply take it, and (c) Spurs will let him go without putting up a serious fight. I am not bothered if Harry stays or leaves, because I can see benefits either way, but I am greatly bothered by the complete contempt that the media is showing towards our club. Also, they are showing huge disrespect for Pearce, who has now been completely written out of the script by the media. What particularly galls me is that this is the very same media that will turn on Harry when - as inevitably will happen at some point during his reign - England fails to make the unrealistic expectations that all of this feverish media sycophantism towards Harry is engendering.
that's why it's a poison chalice if he does'nt win either the Euro or world cup, they will turn on him in a instant, can't see why anyone would want that job
They want an English coach and they want the best one that they can get, HIAG. At the moment, there's not much competition for that title, in my opinion. They have to fill column inches with some old crap, so it's a simple solution, I guess.
The way the media has treated Pearce and every other England manager Will not have been lost on Harry. I hope he sees sense. I would rather manage Arsenal and that's saying something.
No disrespect here, but I find it difficult to get wound up over what the media are saying. I find it far more disrespectful to Spurs to hear and see people within the game jumping on this media bandwagon and shouting "Harry for England". Tony Pulis is the latest, but he is one of many. I applaud the respnse of David Moyes, who when asked a few weeks ago, to make a comment on the England/Harry situation, said it was disrespectful to everyone associated with Spurs to discuss the matter. Well said Mr Moyes.
This would seem a crucial period for Spurs now. The FA for me, have only added to the continuing uncertainty arounfd the club with this latest statement of theirs. How is that good? In their attempt to not unsettle anyone, its done just that as I see it. I do wish they'd say if Pearce is in charge till after the Euros at least, it will abate the press for a while, hopefully long enough to get back on track. Harry's and the teams demeanour just looked different on Sunday. Before Xmas we took to the pitch all smiles, jokes and well relaxed, Lately its all straight faced and anything but relaxed. All this because of bloody John Terry!
maybe it would help if Harry said his or is not interested in the job,if not great if he is intrested in the job we would at least know we could lose him at the end of the season.also,is that a good time to look for a new manager,it could take all pre-season
i think we have to take it as read that Harry is interested in the job, otherwise he would have rule himself out by now. He'll know that the media speculation is likely to have a damaging affect on the team (as much as some of us will try to pretend that it won't), and he would not want to harm the team, unless it is his intention to take the job. Personally, I think he'll snap their hand off. We have to resign ourselves to losing him, and to looking forward to getting in the right man to take his job. I just hope that it isn't Avram Grant.
I'm feeling deluded...Pep Guardiola!, troubled at Barca and only signs one yr deals, in previous seasons he's signed next years by now...free agent in the summer!
Its why they're 10pts behind Madrid, he's fell out with one of the Presidents, and Mourinho is no longer his beeatch!....easy way out!
a bit of a ******ed thing to say for a grown man who probably thinks he knows football....liverpool fans have stooped low in the last few years...i thought they had class...
"King" Kenny got battered by Harry's team 4-0 at the Lane, couldn't even score at Klanfield against them, and are 14 points behind. What's your point? Do you really believe the hype about Sunday being the start of a new era? One game doesn't make our side a bad one or yours a good one.
Would I be correct in thinking that you support a team that couldn't beat Cardiff, a side 28 places below you and that play in a league below 7th placed Liverpool, over 120 minutes, and had to rely on a lottery to win their last game?
The FA claim that there's been no contact with 'Arry about the England job, but this is not true. It was simply that they couldn't comprehend the email he sent them; one FA official describing it as
I agree, i'm no fan of the media but their job is to sell papers. The other managers/clubs are the one's annoying me. Also Harry is annoying me, he seems all too happy to speak about the England job to any Tom, Dick or Hassan.
it's reported that the f.a are to turn to stuart Pearce to Manage England as they think Harry has "gone cold" about the England job
Do you have a source for that? i hope it's true, but believe it may be wishful thinking. In the meantime, I read this on the BBC website:- "Gary Pallister says Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is the only manager who could tempt Paul Scholes to return for England." It makes my point, exactly! How does Pallister know this? It is nothing more than mere speculation, both in terms of Harry (a) still wanting the England job, and (b) England having any intention of offering it to him, as well as being highly speculative as to whether (a) Scholes would be tempted out of retirement by anyone, and (b) Harry being the only man who could possibly encourage him to come out of retirement should the aging ginger-nut want to come out of retirement. Couldn't Guardiola or Mourhino tempt him? it's pathetic! And why the hell would anyone want Scholes to come out of retirement? He had his chance when he was at his peak, and he failed. We want England to move forward, not backwards. The sooner this media circus is over, the better for my blood-pressure!
