Simon Grayson was asked if he was confident of keeping them at the club, he told the Yorkshire Evening Post: "Definitely. All our work will be done around the players we've got. Reading into the above statement , sounds like he won't be signing any players , huh ... just working with what he's got already !!!...read that last line again slowly !!!!... he's got no money to spend ... other than what he may get if he sells somebody !!!! that's the way i read it anyway ... "shakes head in utte disbeleif !!" ... Can you imagine the teams we would have had over the years if we had the will to keep all our best players !!!. Now that would be a great topic for someone to research !!...
To be fair, I read that as we aren't letting the core go rather than we aren't getting anyone in. We should be focused around who we already have, then just add the positions we need. GK, LB and DM for a start. Have good strength in attack though.
Or you could read it to mean no one else is leaving and any new signings would fit around the current crop of players?
I hope that you are both correct ..... & i really do hope for new faces ....... & most of all to keep our best players ........ something we havent been able to do in the past ( for whatever reason) .....even the most loyal & dedicated fans need uplifting at times !!!!!
Around does not mean 'solely with'. Why would he not make any signings whatsoever? People read far too much into his press conferences, he just bullshits like most other managers.
Larry has always played things close to his chest and treats the media with the distain it needs this time of year. For sure all the media bollocks unsettles palyers so why give them a hint when they do what they do which im sure has gotten to Max,Snoddy and Bechio.... Im sure we will see action this week.
whatever your opinion of grayson as a manager, its hard not to conclude that he isn't the most elequent or articulate of guys, at least when talking to the press. Consequently, i'm not convinced analysing the hidden meaning in his choice of words is ever going to be fruitful, when he doesn't know what half of them mean. Bit like when he talked about 'Paynter's rich vein of form' last year. Fingers crossed that a few decent signings come in, we sure need them.
