I was gutted when the R word came into effect, gutted to be playing league 1 football.
But having SoD at the helm feels me with real optimisum for the new season.
Finally a manager that has a direction,a plan, for our great club.

This has to be Steve L best bit of business football wise, the fans can believe in him.
Our manager has the interest of the club in his heart.

This is a manager that can put the sparkle back into Bristol City FC,hopefully next season with a return to the championship.

We can all dream Red Robin but Bristol City do not do instant promotions after relegation, just the same as promotion from third tier (League One) is always followed within five years with relegation back to whence we came.
To win promotion next season would need the club to break the habit of a lifetime. And not being religious, I do not believe in miracles. I "Always Believe" that if any club can **** it up, then Bristol City will manage to do so.

Our history does us no favours when it comes to hiring the right manager in recent years, and although I love all the positivity regarding our future under Sean I ask the question as to why he wasn't hired when he apparently put his name forward for the job previously. The common thread on this site at that time was I believe that we went for the cheap option but when you think about the losses we have incurred to get relegated I don't consider that to any kind of cheap option.

I wish Sean the best of luck but as someone said in reply to another thread on Page 1 of this site "if any club can screw it up then BCFC could be it". Do many of you truly believe that we have a good chance of coming straight back up when you consider that the entire infrastructure of the club has to be rebuilt? My opinion is no, but I truly hope that we can because our supporters have been treated somewhat like mushrooms ov the last few years. We will only see the proof of the pudding when our new rebuilt team comes out to play next season and I wish them all the luck in the world. I plan to see 2 games during my annual trips through England to give my support - so there.

I really do hope that your optimism, Red Robin, is well founded and that this time next year, we'll be celebrating.
But one thing is sure, that all of us City fans who contribute to this site, will still be there next season, whether it's for one or two games like Mike from Vancouver or someone who live only a stone's throw from the Gate.
For me there is a good chance that I'll be coming home to live in or near Bristol in early Autumn, so this eternal pessimist will buy his season ticket, turn up every game, and even though I'm not the least bit religious, silently put his hands together and plead for some sustained success for my club. COYREDS!!!!!!!!!!!
