this week 18 yrs ago marked the anniversary ( 1st may 1994) of the passing of a driver that formula 1 will never see the like of ever again so i feel out of respect he deserves a mention , like him or dislike him or for those who were indifferent to him there was no F1 driver remotely like him before 1984 ,there was no driver remotely like him inbetween 1984 - 94 , and as sure as my dog squats on the beach every day there has never been a driver remotely like him since 1994 to the present day , and i honestly dont believe F1 will ever see such freakish ability , electrifying frightning speed , combined with such a razor sharp racing brain ever again - i purposely never said his name as you will have had to have lived in a cave in the zambezi for the last 50 years not to know who i am talking about -- feel free to debate -
He was unique in many ways, probably relied a bit too much on God, and paid the ultimate price, I always thought he was the very best ever, but have revised my opinion very slightly over the last few years, as being a extremely skilled but a tad reckless. I loved watching him, last man out of the pit, pole again !!! and the first very wet lap at Donington brilliant, I was in the Redgate stand, I remember jumping up after the first lap shouting "How the f*ck did he do that"
