All this talk of our impending doom - or relegation as it's commonly known as - gave me cause to look again at our remaining fixtures to see whether that magical 40 points is still within our grasp and, indeed, what margin for error remains. Below is my first-pass. It says that, of the 18 remaining games it ought to be possible to win 6 and draw 7. This would give us 25 points, or 42 for the season, which ought to be enough (but makes for a run-in that's tighter than a "nun's nasty"). But to achieve this, we're really gonna have to see a big, big change in our home form, whilst a few away wins, tho' unlikely, would really take some pressure off. Newcastle v QPR L QPR v Wigan W Aston Villa v QPR D QPR v Wolves W Blackburn v QPR D QPR v Fulham W QPR v Everton W Bolton v QPR D QPR v Liverpool D Sunderland v QPR D QPR v Arsenal L Man Utd v QPR L QPR v Swansea W West Brom v QPR D QPR v Tottenham D Chelsea v QPR L QPR v Stoke W Man City v QPR L You may disagree with my predictions - which is fine as I'm not sure I believe them either - but it really shows the uphill climb facing us. One day I may venture out of my bedsit into the scary world beyond...
Congratulations Uber. You've officially got me scared. Still. I'm going to enjoy all of it...probably.
Don't forget that there may be some other really bad teams through the course of the season that keeps us afloat.
That's a huge improvement in our home form, so maybe a little optimistic. However, a couple of those away draws could be wins.
No apology necessary, Col. Whether you believe the Ws, Ds and Ls or not, it illustrates how effing difficult this is going to be to pull off. With a bit of luck City will have sown up the title before the last game of the season and we can do what Leeds did to us last year....
Good work über. The one factor you can't build in is the other relegation threatened teams results. Who can see Blackburn Bolton or Wigan winning 30% of their remaining games? It might just might come down to us beating those 3 and relying on their form being worse than ours. Good stuff but agree the spuds will turn us over at home, unless Defoe arrives eh cb?
WBA.....you're going to MK Dons aren't you. I know this is off topic, but do you know the best place to park mate?
You might be right about the Tottering Hotsperms, but on the other hand, wins at Villa, Blackburn, Bolton or West Brom are not impossible, nor is getting a point at Newcastle. I agree that three other teams crappier than us would be helpful, but its in our hands at the mo'.
You think we will achieve a 9 game unbeaten run? Not with the current squad and set up. Just as Tarabat finds form we lose him to the African Nations!!
How is that set up? Do Morocco have a certain amount of group games etc? Hopefully they will go out early!
Look at it this way. We're 4th from bottom, which is not in the relegation zone. Is it not possible to climb a few places up before the end of the season? Are all the teams around us now only going to get good results from now on?
I'm afraid I don't col. I was going to get the train actually as not a lot of interest from the chesterfield / Sheffield based hoops contingent. Might be some parking details on the dons website perchance? I'm only going as this will be our first cup win for donkeys years
Ok mate...thanks anyway. I looked at the train, but it's over a hundred quid return for me and my two sons. It's only about 40 miles from me so Im gonna drive. I'll check out their web site. Great that we're taking approx 5k hey?
The truth is no, Loops, I don't! The list is supposed to illustrate what ought to/might be possible against the other sides, not necessarily what I think we're gonna do, sadly...
Be interesting to see who will have more pressure on them on the last day of the season, us or Man City. .......Nedum Onuoha clears to Bridge, 2 mins remain, if it stays 1-1 City win the title QPR will be relegated, Bridge turns on the ball and slides an inch perfect ball down the line, SWP collects, turns inside and back out, he looses the attentions of 3 City players before getting to the by line and swinging a dangerous ball into the box........look who is on the end of it Carlos Tevez, and he slams the ball into the back of the net......the 10,000 travelling fans are going crazy!!! Tevez gives Mancini the bird, Warnock takes his teeth out and throws them into the crowd.........All this just 3 days after Fernandes announces he has bought Stanford Bridge with the intention of converting the stadium into the QPR's training complex. Chelski meanwhile are looking to groundshare with Leyton Orient.
United will have wrapped up the title by then. Wigan should be two up by now and Rangers in the drop zone
