For those of you thinking "Oh well, there's still the FA Cup to enter." Think again. I'll save us the bother of looking forward to the FA Cup and tell you what happens. A handful of teams from very low divisions (Including the Metropolitan Police, Boreham Wood and Whitby Town) will be drawn against some league two and one teams and lose. A few might make the third round, where a few hopeful Hull City fans will be wishing for a **** team, like Forest Green or Stalybridge Celtic, that we can pummel. Instead, we get Birmingham. Or any of the other 23 teams in our league. We'll play Jamie Devitt and Danny East and lose 2-1. All Hull fans then follow Birmingham's cup run, woven in with chants of "If we'd have won, we'd have been playing there!". Meanwhile Leeds draw Liverpool and beat them 1-0 after extra time, only to be knocked out in the next round by a Cup Running York City, who go onto reach the semi finals with a nation of non big 4 fans behind them. They lose 1-0 to eventual winners Manchester United, thanks to a dodgy penalty decision later revealed to be a tackle outside the area and the magic of the cup dies as the players celebrate right in the faces of the disgruntled Minstermen.
Tommytiger's vision was utterly believable until the bit about United winning 1-0 by a dodgy late penalty award. Never in a million yesrs would that happen.!
It was just the first team that popped into my head Partly because one of their players, George Washbourne, used to play for our five a side team. I am hoping for an away cup draw against Lincoln (if they get to round 3), York (Interesting given my prediction), Worcester City, Northampton or Walsall, as they are the teams of my former house mates and it's an excuse to see them.
In the next round Leeds at home against Southampton. Chance for Leeds to do another Giant Killing act, if Southampton field a reserve team.
As far as the FA Cup is concerned I am hoping that Hull City get an away draw to NewYork. New Ground for most of us. That draw would suit OLM no end and seats behind the home dug-out would be fun to get. Cup magic indeed.
Sorry Tommy, nothing personal, I was looking for something else and found this. I just couldn't resist bumping this up now that Hull City AFC are in the FA Cup Final 2014.
*giggle* Actually, like many others, I've also been of the "we've got no chance, so why bother? It's a distraction from the league and that needs to be our priority". Suffice to say, my view changed about 3 days ago. We've also done it with pretty much our "2nd Team", although I hate using that phrase because some of those players have been outstanding. This is how we'd do it, if against all rational belief and thoughts, actually get a Europa League place, rather than just 1st teamers all the time. I think Brucie has juggled his players and tactics magnificently this season, and given the chance and resources would do the same next season I expect.
Absolutely. I've been squarely in that camp too. All hail Steve Bruce and the current squad. We're watching history.
I don't know if you knew Dutch, but Hull City AFC, "The Tigers", are in the 2014 FA Cup final to be held on 17th May, at some place called Wembley for the first time ever? ****ing hell I love typing that.
Haha well found, I was pissed off that day. However it was from last season. I'll do a seasonal one for next year.
