They claimed they would owe £70,000 on Flints sale to his former club

Alfreton Town are set for a £30k windfall from former Reds central defender Aden Flint's transfer from Swindon Town to Bristol City. #sellon

Looks like they were trying to screw an additional 40,000 by bare faced lies

I remember reading in The Secret Footballer's book that this kind of thing happened all the time. Maybe it's possible that Swindon Town threatened Alfreton Town that they wouldn't sell unless they dropped the price that was owed to them?

Looking at it rather looks like the clause was 20% of the profit made on a transfer which is usual and Swindon tried to make us pay 20% of the purchase price which would have netted them a nice 30-40,000 depending on sale price agreed. Sometimes you wonder if directors at some clubs do this and then trouser the extra money then hand it over to the club as though they are putting in extra money?

This deal is typical of the goings on at our club when it seems we just can't get anything right and become a club that can be taken to the cleaners by anyone. Just look at our recent years of failure in the managerial and player departments and I rest my case. Bloody atrocious business sense has led us to this.
