Steve Morison, the new Norwich City striker, was on the Talkshite Breakfast Show this morning and was asked the usual long-winded, self-completion question from Alan Brazil: 'which ground are you most looking forward to visiting in the Premiership this season - is it Old Trafford, Stamford Bridge, White Hart Lane or The Emirates?' To which Morison replies: 'No, for me, it's got to be Anfield every time. Its something special.' To which Brazil added: 'Remember, Steve, when you come out of the dressing room there and turn left to go down the steps - just don't look up!' Bring on the new season.... GKRK.
I heard that. Thought it was top, Brazil leading him to OT, the Bridge and the Emirates and him saying Anfield. Irani's gob out of joint.
No surprise Just echoeing the sentiments of the likes of Maradona,Mourinho,Henry,Wenger,Cruyff and Slur Alex. I can honestly say the feeling where you get goosebumps and the hairs stand up on the back of your neck, I have experienced more at Anfield, than everywhere else in my life put together. Anfield... A Truly Magical Place
I totally agree...which is why I get bemused as to why so many people seem so happy about the move to a new stadium...other than in the hunt for the extra dollar...lots of money and no soul does not a great football club make...yes I did just make that up
Brazil was refering to the ''This is Anfield'' sign. Bill Shankly once said ''The this is Anfield sign was put there to remind the Liverpool players who they were playing for and the opposition who they were playing against''. Its intimidated most people except Vinnie Jones who whilst at Wimbledon once wrote underneath ''Who gives a ****''.
I agree. It has to be intimidating, like Valencia is it? Where the stands are almost vertical so there's a wall of noise/people. It would be nice if it were called the New Anfield, or Stanley Park. Not going to happen though.
If we stay at Anfield we have to knock the Kop down - and make it TWICE as big. Since seating became compulsory it has been a pale shadow of its former self despite the best efforts of the Koppites.
It has to be New Anfield and I would be really against anything else! A sponsor attached and naming rights made clear in the media. i.e. New Anfield sponsored by Adidas. You won't find Old Trafford being changed there are some things more important than money.
Since the Old KOP was refurbished in 1994,the KOP wasn't a stand...it was the people in it. What made them unique was their wit and their humour and their ability to take the piss out of the opposition when necessary. I'm probably going to get roasted for mentioning ''that club'' again but one of my favourite moments was fromn 1995 when we beat them 2-0 and the KOP sang ''You lost the league on Merseyside'' and ''Dalglish,Dalglish'' at them. Now thats taking the piss and hitting them where it hurts when it hurts. Then there is the first semi final against Chelsea in 2005,when the KOP was bouncing and it scared the Chelsea players to death. I reckon even if we move,a bigger KOP will be just as intimidating as the existing one.
Ahh the ring of fire! that whole day was awesome, the build-up, the game, the crowd, the result, everything.
I like the Borussia Dortmund stand, if we can replicate one like that I think it could be quite intimidating. please log in to view this image
My lad was swaying towards the darkside (Chelsea) then one trip to Anfield, on view of the kop in full swing ..bingo lifelong red
