Good Morning. It's Wednesday 13th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Raphinha set to complete move today Raphinha will fly to Spain today and complete his £60m move to Barcelona. The Brazilian star will pen a five year contract with the Catalan Giants, ending months of speculation about his future. Although negotiations have dragged, all parties can be reasonably happy at the conclusion. The 25yo made 65 appearances for the Whites over his two-year stay, scoring 17 times. please log in to view this image Leeds tempted by Blackburn ace Leeds Utd scouts were in attendance to watch Blackburn Rovers entertain Accrington Stanley last weekend, as speculation grows linking Ben Brereton Diaz with a move across the Pennines. The 23yo Chilean International Striker has been on Victor Orta's short list for a while, and with a £60m kitty soon to be burning a hole in Leeds' wallet, a move to Elland Road seems plausible. Diaz is believed to be available for around £20m - £25m, the same sort of price as PSG's Arnaud Kalimuendo. Sources from Paris indicate they are demanding a buyback clause for their 20yo protégé, which if true, could scupper the deal before it starts. please log in to view this image Newcastle eyeing Harrison capture Newcastle Utd are eyeing up a move for Jack Harrison, after missing out on Moussa Diaby. Bayer Leverkusen were demanding over £60m for their French International winger, a fee the Magpies weren't prepared to pay. If media reports are true, Jack Harrison is next in line on their shopping list. This could have a detrimental effect on Jesse Marsch's pre-season preparations, as the American prepares for the visit of Wolves in less than four weeks. please log in to view this image Marsch has new role for Harrison Many Leeds fans were worried about Jack Harrison's future, following the arrival of Luis Sinisterra from Feyenoord. Although right footed, the 23yo Columbian International plays predominantly on the left wing, a position currently occupied by the former Citeh youngster. It turns out however, that Harrison is very much in Jesse Marsch's plans, though not as a left winger. Marsch likes to play with inverted wingers (having a right footed player on the left wing and visa versa). This would allow Luis Sinisterra and Jack Harrison to cut inside, effectively becoming supporting strikers. New signing, Sinisterra netted 23 times, and registered 14 assists for Feyenoord last season, playing in this very role. There would be much reliance on the wing backs to overlap and get the crosses in please log in to view this image
Morning all. Anyone any idea can any of these new lads kick a ball. ie Free kicks, corners, shoot from outside the box. Over the past two seasons Rapha was virtually only one with that ability and without him, well need one or two with similar ability
A buy back option is not something to be scared of because Leeds would set the price and PSG would get first dibs. If they dont want him he goes on the open market
Noticed Harrison was taking corners back end of last season and against Blackpool last week. Greenwood is the best free kick taker at the club and has been since he arrived. Shame he probably won't be on the pitch to take them. Probably looking at Harrison again. Penalties look a bit shaky but I'd suggest Bamford, Klich and possibly Harrison will be pushed forward for that role. Summerville and Greenwood are probably the best penalty takers at the club. We've still a striker to come in hopefully.
Good Morning to Matt Doc WJ Ristac Shaks etc from a very sunny Bardsey I don;t know about you but I will be glad when Raps has gone it has gone on too long Whatver happens he will still make us a lot of money Who do we bring in Bereton the lad from PSG cHarles is no longer on our radar perhaps our mine of information can assist Doc
I like Brereton Diaz, but Championship players are notoriously hit and miss in the Prem, and mostly miss. Can any of them really be worth 20m+? Some rumours going around about us signing Juan Mata. I actually thought he was underrated a few years ago, but now 34 and hardly played in the last few season it seems unlikely to me, unless it's a ridiculously cheap deal to be a squad player.
Agree you don't need to be scared of having a buy back IF you set the terms ie when it can kick in and the price. Reality is in these situations PSG don't have to sell, like Man City didn't with the lad to southampton. So they're going to have a big say in the buy back. The point of it from their perspective is if the player does great they get first dibs UNDER the likely market value. Whichever, it shouldn't stop you negotiating a deal.
Nah I don’t like the idea of it as PSG need to agree to the price as well and let’s say he had a good season he could be off straight away for a deflated price and then we’re looking for another gem for a cheap price. Stay away from buy back clauses I think. Got to be other options out there.
Morning all. Been out of action for a few days so apologies if this has already been covered, but just read that Firpo is out for 8 weeks. Surely the club need to bring in a left back now FFS ?
Good point, but means he can't participate in pre-season so much as well. Not the first time he's been injured though and he's only been here a year.
Probably been asked elsewhere but what are our times for these Australian games and any likely streams
Morning all The Firpo situation maybe a blessing in disguise and it's got Jesse looking at a new LB. There's a rumour going around twitter that Heijde is now injured.
Tomorrow against Brisbane Roar 10.45 am Sun 17th v Villa 05.35 am Fri 22nd v Palace 11.45 am all on LUTV if you've paid for them.
