Good Morning Everyone Carpi have released striker Jerry Mbakogu on a free transfer. Just two months ago the Spanish outfit were in negotiations with Leeds about a 3m transfer. Is he worth a punt as a freebee? Here't the lastest transfer news with less then 2 days until the transfer window slams shut Oliver Norwood - No thank you Ryan Woods - Too expensive Muhamed Besic - Too expensive Matthew Pennington - Bielsa cannot guarantee him game time Marcus Maddison - Possible It has though been confirmed by the powers that be that Leeds are after Villa midfielder Albert Adomah with a price tag of 3m being suggested. Thoughts Burnley have signed Matej Vydra from Derby. I'm sure we wish them both well...
Morning all.. Vydra got his wish, he is set to be playing PL football, had Leeds been interested in Waghorn I’d have been disappointed so a Derby team with Waghorn over Vydra is a weaker team in my opinion. Reflecting back to the Stoke game, the chemistry between them all was superb, the thought of Harrison, Roberts, Forshaw, Bamford and Baker being included for selection is again mouth watering so in regards to £3m seemingly to spend, I’d say unless we find another Douglas save it for January, don’t spend it because we can.
I think we can run with what we have, then have a look in January or let Bielsa tell them who he wants. I have watched a good number of games upto press and on the showing there is not anyone that has got my attention, yes it’s early and Derby shall be a tougher test than Stoke!! or shall it, they did nothing special against a poor Reading side and the back four should have Nugent in there back pocket, roll on the weekend. Morning all btw.
Morning all Still lots of stories out there regarding possible transfer activity and I suspect we will see a surprise in the next 36 hours as an overseas player is being approached? Adomah would be brilliant for us and he has played with Bamford before the season before last. Adomah scored 4 and assisted in 10 goals scored by Bamford who went on to score 19 that season. Adomah is a flyer and gives us more options as he did for Villa last season where he scored 14 goals as well as assists
Good Morning to Matt and co from a slightly cooler Bardsey Vydra was bought for £9m so Derby wanted rid obviously he was trouble so we have been lucky to get out of that one and surprisingly he sorted his personal terms out straightaway I don't know why Matt doesn't like Norwood he played almost 40 games for Brighton when they one promotion and 40 for Fulham last seasonso he is no mugand at £1,5 m a steal Adomah is very strong and has an eye for goal but £3m to Villa I think 1.5 is enough he is 30 We still need a strong tall CB Can Madison make the step up if yes buy him but do we need him now we have Harrison Jerry Can why have they given him a free ? I have got my ticket for Rotherham match as my grandson wants to show me my name on the Bremner statute
Just a thought on the Pennington thing: There were times last season when he was different class, there were times last season he was left high and dry by a failing team. There are reasons why the likes of Rio Ferdinand, Jamie Carragher, Big Sam think he's the dogs and now the new management at Everton under Sylva think he's worth a new 3 year contract. Maybe we have seen how poor our previous management and tactics have been and should give the kid a chance. If Bielsa wants him he knows he can do something with him, so good enough for me
Morning all. Just hope to get through the day without any surprises like Saiz or Pontus leaving at the last minute. Current squad good enough barring injuries or suspensions
The best game I watched him in was when he played on the right side of a 3. He made several marauding runs into the opposition half that caused mayhem. My concern at the time was the gap he was leaving at the back, but this fits in perfectly with Bielsa's system (as cover is pre-planned), and may be key to Bielsa's interest in him. Much as I love many things about Pontus, I don't think he's particularly good at taking the ball forward. He has a track record of losing the ball when trying this, either bu knocking it on too far in front of him, or by trying to be overly fancy. The result was often that he got yellow carded for desperately trying to recover the situation. Interestingly, this didn't happen last season - it was the season before. Last season he was just flat & disinterested. I wonder which Pontus will turn up this season?
Morning all.......re Pennington, I agree with Doc, if Bielsa thinks he's good enough, then who are we mere mortals to argue.
Was wondering if Bielsa is quietly challenging the board to find better? Bielsa has said he can’t guarantee game time to Pennington in any possible deal, basically saying reserve player?
I dont want any loan signing who has to be guaranteed game time. Thats ties Bielsas hands and is little better than Cellino supposedly picking the team
Latest on a CB is in a few places this last half hour regarding Stephen Caulker for £1.5m. 26 year old 6'3" ex Spurs, Cardiff, QPR and now at Dundee. Apparently Gerrard also in the frame for him at Rangers
Yeah I think that’s been overlooked when we were hoping for the biggest names on loan. Clubs are only sending loan players out to gain experience, they’ll be wanting assurances which surprises me a little with BPF starting in goal.
For that kind of money surely this would be an excellent purchase, tons of experience and height too.
This statement from Eire actually sums up the problems on this site last season. Too many people were upset about the state of our team and blamed every player for being crap. Orta took stick from almost everyone on here for buying shyte, yet the team on Sunday was Ortas players from last season and because we now have a meticulous tactical manager who knows players and how players can be improved Eire is now happy with the players we have. Many were moaning a few weeks ago about the need for 12 or 14 new faces needed bringing in. Just saying guys maybe we all need to chill
Morning ristac, Vydra has gone to a smaller club so he can play Premiership football in front of 15,000 fans. Honeymoon football for Burnley at the moment, but ask Hull fans how long it lasts for?
Morning Doha, Derby were extremely lucky against Reading. If they played like they did last week, 3 points are ours.
