Good Morning. It's Wednesday 7th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Cantwell's agent using Leeds to drum up interest in his client Ex Leeds and England forward Noel Whelan has rubbished reports that Leeds are desperate to sign Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell. Instead, Whelan is blaming the 22yo's agent for trying to drum up interest in his client. “From what I have heard, was it Cantwell's agent that was pushing that one? That is what I’ve been hearing on the grapevine. “Leeds might be interested in him, but they weren’t desperate for him. “It’s more his agent pushing that one. “If he did come to Leeds we’d be getting a very good young player and we know Marcelo Bielsa likes that. But it obviously wasn’t his first port of call. "There were other irons in the fire that he was looking at. please log in to view this image Leipzig still want their 21m for Augustin Jean Kevin Augustin joining Nantes has not calmed the waters between Leipzig and Leeds Utd. The (then) 22yo hit man only managed 50 minutes of game time during his short tenure at Elland Road due to a series of injuries and lack of fitness. Augustin was given free player status this week by Leipzig, and the former PSG star was instantly snapped up by the French outfit. According to Florian Scholz, the Commercial Manager of RB Leipzig, they still want the money as the contract applies & that he is no longer a Leipzig player. The German outfit want €21m because of the promotion, but Leeds will claim the agreement expired on June 30. Florian Scholz was further quoted as saying “Jean-Kevin Augustin has not been a player at RB Leipzig since the rise of Leeds United. If that is the case, who gave Augustin a free player status? Surely, if it went to Court, and Leeds lost, it would mean they'd have to have Augustin back so they could sell him! That will be difficult after Leipzig have given him away. please log in to view this image How would you rate Leeds Summer transfer activity? Morning Ell and those yet to logon Already said my piece regarding JKA yesterday so won't bother repeating it.
Morning all I echo Aski on the Big Kev debate and much written in yesterdays Big Kev thread which shows how complex its become. I think we’ve had a great window and just wish the International break wasnt happening, as its stopped our new players getting fully up to speed with Bielsaball. Rodrigo is going to be a handful and Koch so far looks brilliant. Just seen Llorente smashing in 2 goals in Spanish training session which the club have posted, and cant wait to see our Brazilian in action. Hopefully Raphinha is training with Bielsa for the next couple of weeks.
Good Morning to matt Doc and co from a dull Bardsey I think that leipsig are clutching at straws as clearly the boy was unfit Rapina maybe Bielsa sees him as a no 10 I think that the transfer window has been a really good one for us Everton and Villa
Does anyone think he wants Llorente to sit in midfield? Bielsa's original plan was to have a more calm, defensive head there as Bielsa had Forshaw prior to his injury which is why we've seen Hernandez and Roberts take up the midfield role.
Good morning all. In regards to the signings... Pleasantly surprised at the amount we’ve brought in, happy with the quality, I’m trusting Bielsa totally but I’ve been left wondering why Raphinha and Llorente? For me Struijk is good enough to step in and would improve this season whilst Poveda or Costa are both good enough down the right. The Pablo/Roberts position is far more pressing and I’d have preferred a proper LB. Before the season started I’d have bitten your hand off for these signings though.
Llorente can play RB, LCB, RCB, DM so basically he can cover almost anywhere at the back. He has played as many times for Spain as a DM as he has a CB. Hes also a good ball player and long range passer as you would expect a Bielsa player to be. Struijk is young and learning his trade and will improve again this season. At TA theres a bunch of different clubs going on as part of the coaching. I saw a post from Olly Casey last night about his game against Barrow and Ben White replied to it saying miss you. Now that can only mean that all the CBs spend time on the same routines as Casey Cresswell etc are all in the CB club. it will be interesting to see if Bielsa does bring in what we describe as a No10 or has he other plans for Raphinha in that area. Someone posted some analysis of Pablo and Raphinha the other day that shows where both do most of their damage and it showed both players were working the same areas?
Morning, I think Fulham and West Brom know they are going down again and so have not spent any real money. We seem to have a plan and hopefully the parts fit together really quickly. I agree though the LB position seems unoccupied but I'm not the best coach in the world.
Morning all. Big Kev, not bothered but one big balls up all round, will cost us some cash Ive no doubt but not 21m. Tranny window, definitely spent more than expected but no idea if they're up to scratch or not as most of them have only played an hour or two in the pl, some not at all. So lets wait and see. God knows over the years, there's been far too much emphasis put on YouTube clips. Aren't the international breaks fantastic
Pinched from JA606 re Raphinha and put into English by the miracle of modern science that is Google Translate; Hello, I am a Rennes supporter, sorry to write in French, but my English is really poor! Details of Raphinha: - His departure is not a matter of need for money, Rennes is financially sound. -The player, already on his arrival last year, claimed that he did not really want to join Rennes, and dreamed of PL. -His decision took the club by surprise, after the last game in Rennes on Sunday, we could see a discussion on the pitch, between him and our coach as well as some players including Camavinga, visibly surprised, and trying to convince him to stay. But Raphinha prefers the PL, the salary to the Champions League. -The Rennes fans are disappointed especially with the timing, because it left too little time to replace him. On its sporting value, it is more shared, it is sometimes totally invisible in a match, but also capable of beautiful gestures. Mentally fragile. He has trouble dribbling (his only dribble is inward). The real regret, then: the conditions of his departure, which disrupted our mercato. Happy season to you!
Complete bollox that Brizzy from JA606, as Jeremy Doku was bought for €23m 2 days before the window closed and hes a right winger
Good morning all I thaught 84.5m was an eye opener, but sure it was money very well spent and will take us to another level, But i find it staggering that Fat frank and Chelsea in todays climate are spending a whopping 226m to try & buy the title, well i for one hope he & Chelsea fall flat on their faces.
Norwich have continually said, they haven't received an off off any club for Cantwell, so the piece about the agent could well be spot on.
I know for a fact that we asked the question about Buendia just before the window opened. We were told bidding would start at £25m and we never went back. The Cantwell thing I believe is probably by his agent, but Phil Hay did say 2 weeks ago when asked about Cantwell that hes someone the club looked at but no phone conversation and certainly no offer for him
