Good Morning Everyone It looks like Matthew Pennington is up for grabs!!! The 23 yo was on a season long loan from Everton, but returned to his parent club in May, and signed a new 3 year deal with the Toffee's. Since then of course Big Sam has departed, and Marco Silva has taken over. Unsurpringly Silva wants to clear the decks, and start again meaning both Pennington, and Garbutt are up for grabs. Thoughts? Abel Henandez sent a tweet yesterday saying Good news is coming soon. Although there was no indication from Uruguayan where his destination would be, he was wearing a plain white t shirt (well I'm convinced). To give the story a little more credance, both Wolves and Forest sent tweets out yesterday indicating that Hernanmdez would be on his way to Elland Road. Here are the latest odds for the Elland Road hot seat. Who would be your top 3 candidates? Marcelo Bielsa 1/4 Claudio Ranieri 5/1 Mick McCarthy 9/1 Darren Ferguson 16/1 Carlos Carvalhal 18/1 Steve Bruce 18/1 David Hopkin 20/1 Lee Bowyer 20/1 Sam Allardyce 20/1 Jaap Stam 22/1 Craig Levein 25/1 Matias Almeyda 25/1 Michael Laudrup 25/1 Phil Parkinson 25/1 Víctor Sánchez del Amo 28/1 Alan Pardew 33/1 David Moyes 33/1 Filippo Inzaghi 33/1 Gordon Strachan 33/1 Roberto Di Matteo 33/1 Alex Neil 40/1 Carlos Corberan Vallet 40/1 David O'Leary 40/1 Dean Saunders 40/1 Dougie Freedman 40/1 Fernando Hierro 40/1 Gianfranco Zola 40/1 Hannes Wolf 40/1 Jackie McNamara 40/1 Paulo Sousa 40/1 Pep Clotet 40/1 Ruben de la Barrera 40/1 Slaven Bilic 40/1 Zinedine Zidane 50/1
Morning all. I think we need to looking better than Pennington at present, we need players for now, even though he looks like he could be one for the future, he looks too lightweight at times. No idea how Garbutt progessed, another case of going for the money , which tbh I fully understand. Seen Hernandez play a couple of times and i was impressed both times, hopefully this is the calibre of player we are looking at from now on. Bowyer could be a good wild card, did a good job at Charlton the short time he was there. Not sure who my preferences are tbh. I think I'll just wait and see.
Morning Gessa, Pennington was a big disappointment for me last season. I expected him to be a lot better. Garbutt to my knowledge has not done much to impress. Apart from Barley and Gradel, I cannot think of many loaness that have impressed over the last 10 years
Morning all... I agree with Gessa better than Pennington is required although if we do get Bielsa I hope the powers that be listen to his EXACT requirements. If he is even thinking about 3-3-1-3 then he is going to need the right players not players “who can” if needed play it. Apart from Abel Hernandez I’d like no new arrivals until the coach/manager is in place, we can’t go bringing in players for a new coach and he doesn’t end up joining, the delay is a strange one, you can only imagine he is driving a hard bargain when it comes to his needs. That betting list, there are a good few I’d take, some however would be dependent on kissing goodbye to Orta.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a dull Bardsey It appears we are after a CB who was on loan to the Owls and at 875k seems a bargain especially as he is only 25 Frederico Venanao.Apparently he was loaned to them from Portugese team Pennington was easily bossed on the park As for the manager Ferguson should be 5000-1 Herandez is coming of this I am sure. The rest will depend on the new manager
Morning Mighty, the person he would want as his assistant is on his way to the World Cup with Saudi Arabia. I dare say in a months time things will be different.
Morning Mike, yes I heard about the Portuguese player too, but we seem to be linked with everyone at the moment.
you might be right mukka lets hope Bielsa holds his Leeds job long enough to find out git morning BTW
Good morning Matt & all I don't want to see Pennington anywhere near a Leeds side again Sign him & our ambition has gone out of the window
Watching clips of Hernandez, he looks to be a decent striker, good running off the ball into the right positions & obviously has an eye for a goal
Two short-period loan signings Michael Gray only played about 15 games during our first stint in the championship after relegation from the prem, he was a superb LB for us Dougie Freedman was a huge influence in getting us to the play-off final in 2008, think he scored five goals in ten games for us
Good Morning Everyone Abel Henandez a quality proven striker at this level, would be a major coup if we got him, shows the club are now going for it, just needs the announcement that Marcelo Bielsa will be our new head coach/manager,and i will be one happy clappy
Sad to see Villa in meltdown .Now as I reported after their defeat by Fulham they would be a fire sale as Bruces gamble failed and left crippling debts To add to this they have been issued with a winding up order by the revenue for unpaid taxes Like the look of Adomah for !M amnd Lansbury for the same fee Marriot seems to be heading to Bristol
Was reading a report from a local journalist about the plight of Villa and he was quoting a sports financial expert, he was saying people didn't realise the dire situation at Villa, not only did they pay over the odds for players, the wages they are paying are ludicrous, Richards for example has hardly played for them and still has 12 months left at £45k per week, then there's McContract he said he had seen Scott Hogans contract and the wage they are paying him is mind blowing for someone of his ability, they will not be able to offload these players as no one else will pay the wages, these and a few more contributing to a £800,000 per month loss and now they will lose the second tier parachute payment. Bruce didn't come out of it too well, odious **** that he is.
Take a look at the Hull forum, they are distraught at losing him and the razor blades are ready if he does join us.
