Good Morning Everyone Tyler Robert's 51st minute goal was enough to send the Mighty Whites back to the top of the table as Leeds recorded their first away win against Hull since 2007. The big question has to be, why was it only 1-0. We had over two thirds possession of the play, more shots at goal, and more corners yet we could only manage one shot on target! Thoughts? After the game Hull boss Nigel Atkins said "We've probably played against one of the best teams in the Championship I've seen in many years. "They are going to take teams to the cleaners this season. If you think we are on a level playing field, we're not. "We are where we are. I'm not happy with it, but we are trying hard on the training ground with the group of guys we've got. "There's a spirit about them. We've got to keep our spirits high." Yet again, Leeds are being linked for a move for James Milner should Leeds get promoted! Is this agent talk, to get the 32 yo a new contract? Perhaps Milner does want to come back. Do we want him, especially if he only fancies coming back if we are in the top fight? Bielsa has said that Kemar Roofe, Pablo Hernandez, Gaetano Berardi and Conor Shaughnessy will all be back for the away trip to Blackburn Rovers on October 20.
Morning all... Glad Roberts scored but it was a soft goal by their keeper to give away, BPF would have been crucified had it been the other way around, that’s not to say we didn’t deserve the win but Hull are easily the worse Championship team I’ve seen this season. Not on a level playing field? No we didn’t get parachute payments, they should be miles ahead of us, obviously a **** storm of problems going on for them with their dodgy owners. We are not scoring more because a vital cog is missing, Roofe. Forget his goals, we’re missing his speed and movement, defenders scared to allow him a yard on them, defenders following his movement as he pulls them out of position for our attacking three to exploit. Add to this the extra bit of quality Hernandez adds over Harrison and we’ll start putting them away again on their return, I’m confident on that. Just hoping now Douglas isn’t too badly injured, it’s not looking good as he went to the ground with nobody near him and indicated to come straight off.
It was only 1 nil because our two main strikers and our most influential player are out injured. top of the league will do for me
For once I thought we were pacing ourselves especially with us having three games in a week. It wasn't one of the better games to watch in that sense but we did enough to win it. The last few minutes were a little nervy but on the whole we limited Hull to what they could do.
Morning all. It was a poor slow game in parts last night not helped by the lack of atmosphere an empty stadium creates. Was a hard slog watching at times. Again we played well, although not our best, and once we get the injured players back I think we will return to giving teams proper thrashings instead of grinding out results. Jansson was once again excellent at the back and him and Cooper have an excellent partnership. I know Bielsa likes Berardi as he is quicker at playing out but how can you drop Pontus in this current form?
Until those final 10 minutes I felt we could have played against Hull for another 90 min and they still wouldn’t have scored, Philips and Klich were having a field day. On the substitution of Harrison, the bloke on Sky said Harrison was exhausted, I found that a strange comment without extra info? Saying that he’d been calling Alioski Saiz for the first half hour.
Hard to say whether Adkins believes what he says or is just deflecting from his team’s inadequacies. Again another side that drops deep in numbers to starve us of the space to play though them... so we end up with lots of possession but find it hard to break them down. We’re going to see this a lot this season. Whichever we weren’t at our best, but even so, still too good for the opposition away from home. 3 points top of the league. I’d much rather complain that performances aren’t perfect whilst looking down on the rest of the league. It’s great for below par performances to still be dominant ones. Doesn’t look great for Douglas... will he trust Pearce or go for Dallas? My guess is Dallas.
He enjoyed us singing our famous song... ‘marching all together’. Safe to say, the guy wasn’t a Leeds fan.
Alioski has played LB before but... Bielsa has always said one man for one position the exception to the rule could be Klich and Forshaw can also cover Phillips so my guess is we will see Pearce
Forgot about that one but yes, I remember thinking at the time what a muppet. Sky Red Button is a great idea but surely they have better commentators available to them.
Good morning everyone And that's a key sentence, all the best teams are able to grind out results when required, and not at their best, which were clearly not atm,but even when that's said were top of the league.Just a small example of how far we have come under Bielsa's guidance, when the super three are back, some poor team or two are gonna get a right tonking, hope millwalls one of them
Morning all..I completely agree. We're going to come up against teams that play like Hull did last night & they're going to try to drag us down to their level, so we're not always going to see the flowing attacking stuff we've started to get used to.
Morning all. My Wednesday morning worry - there seems to be 3 teams maybe 4 getting a little out in front. Think WBA will improve, an expensive squad. Have already bet on boring Boro to go up, then there’s us and Sheffield United - think they are too prone to defeats to last the course but could be wrong. Wonder if our squad is strong enough to make us top 2 ahead of both WBA and Boro. Worry worry worry
What's all this talk on the match day thread of needing another striker? Let's bare in mind Roberts is our third choice and look at his stats in the Championship: 5 games 110 passes 77% pass accuracy 16 shots 7 chances created 6 shots on-target 3 goals ⚽ 1 assist An extremely promising start to his Leeds career
Good Morning to the Sheriff and his posse from a dull Bardsey Just returned from a yearly trip to Scotland and I must say the people have been very nice to us I can recommend 2 BAND B Inverness Antfield House and Falkirk Lismore Farm both excellent and not expensive either Pontus was the MOM and Douglas what is it about new players we buy the seem to get injured If we can beat Brentford at least we will have a week to get all our injured back to normal apart from Izzie and Bamford of course Looks like Bruce is having a bad patch or is it a cabbage patch either way next Sat will probably be Steve Smiths last game in charge of Brentford. We mentioned this a couple or so weeks ago My only concern is Mourinho getting sacked and they turn there attention to Bielsa even at 20m buyout will not phase them
It is a worry that,20m loose change to manure,But i have a feeling Bielsa would not go, even if offered the position,he would have to be mad to turn that kind of offer down, but wait a minute he is,but he's our madman
Yes I mean them, for some reason I always mix the names up. Probably because West Brom starts with a ‘W’ and Villa .... erm..... doesn’t I blame old age
On James Milner. Some fans on social media when this story emerged last week were criticising him. If he isnt willing to drop down a league and take a paycut then how much can he really care about Leeds United. Well what a load of old codswallop? He is a professional footballer playing some of the best football of his long successful career for a team challenging for the top title. Those who criticise probably do not like their jobs and the idea of playing for their beloved club for thousands a week seems like the dream. I truly believe that when we are promoted this year and if Liverpool win something this year he will want to see his career out at his boyhood club. He has clearly shown his love for Leeds United and what a finish your career? I can see Delph wanting to come back for similar reasons.
Milner wants to be part of the England squad still, where's he going to be noticed for that, playing Premier and European football for Liverpool or for us in the Championship, some people need to get real. I was told when he signed for Liverpool that he was going to see out his contract and then he'd want to play for us and it wouldn't be for the money, he wouldn't demand high wages, just be on par with our highest earner.
