Good Morning. It's Wednesday 14th October, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Barry Douglas to exit Elland Road Barry Douglas will become the first senior Leeds Utd player to leave Elland Road this Summer; his likely destination believed to be either Watford or Blackburn Rovers. Douglas signed for the Whites in the Summer of 2018 under much hype having played a pivotal role in Wolves promotion the season before. Unfortunately, the left back was unable to replicate much of his brilliance that saw him named left back of the season in the Championship. Both clubs wants the 31yo on loan with an option to buy, but Douglas is in the final year of his contract, and would be allowed to leave on a free transfer at the end of this season. A way around it, would be for Douglas to extend his contract by 12 months, but how willing would the former Wolves defender be to do this? Leeds splashed out 3m, and would be looking to recoup half of that! please log in to view this image Bielsa has clear out Marcelo Bielsa has named Conor Shaughnessy, Ouasim Bouy and Jay-Roy Grot as surplus to requirements and may leave the club with immediate effect. Robbie Gotts will be departing Elland Road on loan to gain first team experience. With five clubs chasing him, he has a hard decision to make! Jay-Roy Grot has a bacterial infection in his knee following surgery earlier this year. He is not expected to be fit until the New Year. please log in to view this image West Ham agree to pay 30m to Brentford for Benrahma - Madness or bargain? Whilst Leeds decide whether to pay the additional 5m for Todd Cantwell (20m) or 10m for Derby youngster Louie Sibley, West Ham have agreed a staggering 30m for Brentfords Said Benrahma. We all saw his wizardry in the Championship last season, not to mention his 26 goals. If the 25yo is able to replicate this in the Premiership, his price tag could quadruple over night. Cardiff and Swansea are competing to sign Liverpool's Wales midfielder Harry Wilson, 23, on a season-long loan. Who would have liked to see Wilson at Leeds? please log in to view this image
Morning all At the start of the window Orta thought a £17m offer for Benrhama was a fair offer and expected it to be in the ballpark for a Championship player. If you remember at the time the plan was for Leeds Utd transfer biz to be concentrated in high end Championship players and experienced Prem players. The sheer greed of clubs like Brentford and Norwich, Liverpool and Brighton meant we went elsewhere. I hope Benrhama works out for WHU or whoever but a huge gamble at that price. I really hope we are not thinking about Cantwell at £25min January? Nessy, Bhoy and Grot will not be missed but we are obviously paying them off. Bhoy has been the biggest rip off in footballand I include the Big Kev fiasco in this this. We signed a player who we loaned straight out to a club who disnt fancy him. He walked out on that club and then Orta found him and took him back and in 2 seasons played once and also 3 off the bench. He was crap and a w aste of space. We have been paying him to stay in Holland and every time we find him a club he refuses to go out on loan. Bandit and there should be protection for clubs from players like this. Nessy has also failed everywhere we sent him including Hearts and Burton and hes 24yo now so hope he gets a gig as a free agent but sounds like he aint that good or has a head problem. Grot I feel sorry for because from being the next big thing in Dutch football he turned into just a big thing? I watched him in the 23s and he was awesome and there was a gulf in class between him and Edmondson and he just powered his way through defenders and slotted home goals with ease. His rejection by Bielsa I believe destroyed him, pity.
Morning all The option to buy for Douglas is a waste of time, if they decide not to take up the option then we have him for another year (if we try and extend a contract), just offer a cut down price, £500k for him. I thought Olly Watkins was over priced but look how he has hit the ground running. You have to ask who would Benrahma replace in our team and if that is £30m well spent? I’d take him in place of Roberts/Pablo but then we have the new Brazilian guy and Rodrigo not to mention Poveda scrapping for places. Me personally I’d rather splash out on a top LB and I’m not interested in Harry Wilson. I have a feeling we will get another central midfield player before the domestic window shuts but we’ll be looking at spending nearer to £15m
good morning all i take it wilson will not go on loan to a prem club.so it begs the question is he good enough for this league yet.Liverpool will not be in any hurry to loan us anybody especially after the game we gave them. Brentford once again get top money when they sell and they know how to do business.would i pay that for him ? no not even near that price.the derby lad could be a good punt as i expect it would be a smallish down payment and the rest based upon appearences /if he plays so many prem games/international games at top level/a sell on fee too.west ham are paying way too much in this covid ridden season and we have done some good business too. ok so what about rodrigo and his heading ability he was supposed to be good.he spurned two good chances last night and the Ukraine beat them one nil.
got to agreee ref a left back we only have Davies who is any good but unproven.please no one mention Alioski as he was dire there in the championship.
On the subject of the big 6 plan it seems each of the 3 leagues in the EFL held meetings yesterday and out of the 72 clubs there were 2 dissenters and on top of that the EFL boss who has been working on this plan for over 3 years got unanimous support and backing so stories about him being sacked are wrong, so thats the EFL and FA happy and the top 6 of the prem which leaves 14 prem teams, the Premier League who are unhappy. Still think this is going to go away? Me neither
Benrahma the playboy was bound to choose a London club, he & West Ham are made for each other. Not over-impressed with Wilson so a big fat NO from me! Douglas a huge disappointment imo! No goals No assists Slow More poor games than good Injury prone
Douglas has been a massive waste of money. A lot is said about Orta and how he has improved the squad. But i would like to see just how much he has cost the club with his many failures. Forshaw is another injury prone player and should never have been signed. Casilla is a huge waste of money and for a keeper from real madrid a total let down. The scattergun approach he used signing lots of dross for the u23s did not work. Indeed when a player broke through he was one of ours ie shakleton. If the same money was spent on decent champ players this would be the second season in the prem. As i said would love to see the sums he wasted. Bielsa i think got orta out of a fix all he has to do now is chase whoever bielsa wants. Its like scouting by numbers.
Good morning all. FA aren’t happy and have said they will use their veto put in place when premier league originated to prevent this sort of practice. Also said they would remove their sanction for the clubs to play in European competitions. EFL clubs are desperate for the money now and the vast majority of them will never trouble the “big six” so probably don’t care about their power. Of course they might do further down the line when the big six decide to drop the share of the TV money to say 2% from the original agreement or decide they want “B” teams in the lower divisions.
The EFL clubs are just being bought didn’t expect anything else really just a case of self preservation If they do get any money from the prem they should have to prove where it has gone otherwise it will vanish into someone’s pocket
I am just watching Oliver Dowden who is the Minsiter in charge of Sports, media and Digital appearing in front of a select committee answering questions on football. He is basically telling the Premier League to bail out the EFL, hes an idiot. The Premier League cannot vote to help the EFL without the big 6 so something will have to give. Richard Masters boss of the Premier League is demanding the boss of the EFL resigns, but the EFL clubs 70 of the 72 love him and wont accept him leaving. This is getting smelly and needs a leader
Here's another thought, what if the season gets cancelled again, talk of another full lockdown soon, Labour Party want it. Crewe Alex had to cancel their second game this season yesterday, with the virus making it unsafe to play.
Not if we lock down they won't.They won't have any choice in it, Crewe said Government rules stopped them playing, despite the EFL wanting them to play. Crewe don't know if the games that have been cancelled will be replayed or given 3-0 to the other team.
Morning all Forgot about the useless lump Grot. Saw him live a few times and the only talent I saw was Doukarra's ability to jump and get smaller. Got a friend who is a steward at Naarwich and he firmly believes we are in for Cantwell. Says he is a talent and had a good season last year but that we would need to nurse him because he is a bit fragile mentally - if that is the case, leave things be and look for some more internationals in the January Window.
