Good Morning. It's Tuesday 30th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Mitrovic receives three game ban for elbow on White Fulham Striker Aleksandar Mitrovic has been banned for three games for elbowing Leeds defender Ben White. The Serbian International is joint top scorer of the Championship, alongside Ollie Watkins with 23 goals. Mitrovic accepted a charge of violent conduct by the Football Association after the callous act was witnessed by millions on Sky at the weekend. A Spokesman for the FA was quoted as saying :- "Fulham FC’s Aleksandar Mitrovic has been suspended for three matches following the EFL Championship fixture between Leeds United FC and Fulham FC on Saturday 27 June 2020. "The striker admitted his behaviour in or around the third minute of the match was in breach of FA Rule E1(a) and constituted violent conduct, in an incident which was not seen by match officials but was caught on video." Billionaire owners Nassef Sawiris and Wes Edens bought Villa Park for £56.7m just ahead of the club's re-entry into the Premier League. This deal was coordinated via NSWE Stadium Ltd - a company controlled by the duo. According to The Sun, Villa claim that the investigation from Premier League chiefs is part of standard regulatory checks. The EFL are conducting independent enquiries into the sales by Sheffield Wednesday, Derby County and Reading of their stadiums to owners. When will they do this? Derby County are sneaking up the table, and are only three points from a play off place! With seven games in the next 23 days, it's important to keep your players sharp and fresh. Bearing this in mind would you give any of the fringe players a run out this evening? Luton, although scrapping hard for points are an incredible 10/1 to get a result at Leeds this evening! The likes of Stevens, Shackleton, Struik, Berardi, Poveda and Douglas have all struggled for minutes on the pitch this term - Is it time to give the squad players some valuable minutes? Morning Ell, great thread as always. Mitrovitch first - as they say in Belfast, slap it up him. I'm sure his manager is delighted. The timing and severity of FFP sanctions can't be predicted (unless it's Leeds, then it's instantaneous and draconian). It really seems to depend on the club whether the letter of the law is applied, and when. For Villa to have got a year in the Prem without being pulled up is appalling, and I can't help feeling that it wouldn't be scrutinised even now except that they are certs to come back down. It's almost as though the financial behemoth that is the Premier League don't want their product tainted and are exerting pressure on the FA/EFL behind the scenes. I'm all for giving up and coming players game time but not at the expense of points, therefore either late in games when it's job done or later in the season when autos are confirmed already. And youngsters, so yes to Poveda & Shakleton, no to Berardi - great servant though he has been.
Morning all. On Mitrovic its good to see players pulled up like this by the authorities. Maybe they are not completely incompetent like we think? I would swap out Klich tonight. He hasn't looked himself so far these last two games, looks knackered if you ask me. I would put Shackleton there but would imagine if Bielsa were to drop him he would put Dallaz there and play Douglas.
Morning all. Not much surprise with the Mitrovic thing. What a clown to attempt that in the first few minutes. Glad he wasn't sent off as the media would have had a field day citing that as only reason we won. Bielsa will continue to start the same eleven until limbs start falling off due to exhaustion and I imagine they also want to play every minute. Will Paddy be tweeting again during second half? FFP doesn't, its a fantasy thing only
Agree klich has been off form, great pass to Harrison for the second goal on Saturday though. I think he has credit in the bank, personally though it was good to see Shackleton back as an option.
Good morning everyone Jesus is their no depths that Villa won't sink to to get their own way, the club makes me sick So glad mitrovic is getting his due punishment which was so swift, credit to the FA for that, but that really is the end now of Fulham's auto's aspirations. Big BIG game tonight, matches on paper which look easy have been one of Leeds hoodoos in the past, and i hope under mr Bielsa that's just what those type of outcomes are, in the past. Agree with Davy about now is not the time to think about bringing in fringe players, points are all important now so i personally wouldn't change a thing, so same unchanged team please mr Bielsa, i hope he reads this and takes my advice, how interesting that would be if he does.
Good Morning to Mattand co froma coldBardsey I think thatMetrovich deliberately caught White as a result of instructions from his manager who copied what Hunter use to do time and time againhit the oppostion hardhence dirty Leeds will they be called dirty FulhamI doubt it but it is unusual to be sent off so early Still think Brentford could go up along with us WBA are struggling for goals not scored since Feb
Bielsa won't change things too much unless he has to, he knows his best XI & two or three subs. The fillers will have to wait although if we go up I doubt they'll be good enough in the prem especially as they are not ready for championship football yet!
But the Reds have been told they must pay more than £35m if they want to sign Brighton's 22-year-old English defender Ben White, who has impressed during a loan spell in the Championship with Leeds United this season. (Football Insider)
Klich ran over 12km against Fulham and he didn't even finish the 90 mins. That kind of running is fundamental to Bielsaball. Nobody else can cover that ground. He has done it consistently throughout the last two seasons without injury. He is key to our midfield even if he is not on form.
Totally agree. The problem is we need more goals and assists from his position if we do get to the PL, although to be fair that goes for quite a few others as well.
Nothing wrong with starting with the same 11 and making plenty of substitutions in the second half, as needed. We've only played 2 games thus far, we want to get over the line as soon as possible, then he can play all the fringe players he wants. As for Mitrovic, couldn't care less (although it's good enough for him) because they are a busted flush now. I wonder if any of those cheating clubs will ever get their come uppance, if they committed the crime while in one division, can they be penalised if they're in a different one?
As I understand it dude, only when they come back down a la QPR a few years back when they got done on their relegation to the Championship.
I recalled them getting a little slap on the fingers when they dropped back down again. Wrong! Found this link which tells me they got a £42m fine! No points deduction, as far as I can see. Seems ironic to hit a club that is struggling with finances with a huge fine, but they deserved it. And so do Villa, who'll hopefully be getting punished by the EFL next season after their drop. I notice from the article that they might be joined by Bournemouth next season. I had forgotten about that! https://www.telegraph.co.uk/footbal...s have, most recent promotion-winning campaign.
