Good Morning. It's Tuesday 17th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Does Angus Kinnear need to re-evaluate his B+ transfer window evaluation During his well rehearsed Summer transfer evaluation on the Square Ball earlier this month, Angus Kinnear awarded the Whites an impressive B+, a game later, we ask whether the ER Chief Executive needs to re-evaluate his grades? We may have better strength in depth compared to our squad twelve months ago, but failure to replace the game changers, could very well come back to haunt us! Saturdays performance showcased this point brilliantly. The Whites dominated all the stats that mattered bar two - shots on target and goals! Parking the bus, last minute blocks and goal-line clearances continue to frustrate Farke's men. Failure to land a Emiliano Buendía, Gustavo Hamer or player of that ilk, who can unlock defences could mean they miss out on a top two finish in what looks to be a very average Championship this season. please log in to view this image Most things right about the Burnley performance - Popey BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope believes the fans negative reaction to the one-nil defeat to Burnley was not warranted. Speaking on his 'Don’t Go to Bed Just Yet' podcast Popey stated that Leeds performance deserved more, insinuating that the Whites were unlucky not to get anything from Saturday's game. Unfortunately for us long suffering supporters, dominating games, and not winning is nothing new. Whilst we were undoubtedly the better team, we lacked that killer pass or clinical finish. According to Popey: “The meltdown – don’t think is deserved in proportion to the performance, which people are going to hate to hear. “Most things right about that performance. “Things could have changed on a penalty or a missed chance early on and another chance for Gnonto was good too.” please log in to view this image
Hey Ell Kinnear The man is a fraud ... he should have left with Radz, he never shouldered responsibility for the Bielsa debacle, forcing Big Sam on us or the loan/release clauses in contracts (nope, Orta did not sign off on money, that was all Radz/Kinnear) Here is why I despise him ... on TSB podcast (another bunch of negative frauds) he said Leeds could not afford to sign young, unproven talent as we could not afford the luxury of having young players learn their trade in the heat of a promotion campaign ... on Saturday an unproven player in a key position missed an absolute sitter in the first 45 seconds because he choked when his big moment arrived ... Kinnear is a fkn liar, not to be trusted Burnley Overall it was a very good performance against a well organised, hard working team ... Burnley stuck to their game plan, pretty much like Blackburn did last season, and took their chance when it came ... they left no space to run in behind, and were happy to let Leeds play slow passes in front of them ... in tight games you have to bury your chances, and Leeds failed in the key moments ... fine margins, that is all it was
Afternoon all On another thread, Gessa mentioned a chance meeting with someone who is going to be involved in redeveloping TA, maybe that's the reason Kinnear is still in a job
So 9 players in that game, scored as many penalties as Kane did for Munich tonight. Or to put it another way they scored as many penalties as were missed in the Fulham v Preston game
Jeez if Meslier was in goals for that shoot out he’d be black and blue from falling all over the place
Ahh I started watching at 11 each and I could have sworn the female presenter said they had not missed any, still some feat
Nothing changes for me we are the same team as last season missing infront of goal. who's to blame for that? of course the players have to stand up and be counted but so do the coaching staff. yes certain games it just happens. you do everything right, but on the day you just cant put that ball in the net for love nor money. but, for us its a regular thing. its not just a phase or players needing time lets say a common phrase "Joesph when he gets one he will score a boatload" it just doesn't seem to quite happen. Yes we did score quite a few last season but the problem is chances created to actual scoring we have to be one of the poorest in the Championship. Saturday there were two massive misses. Probably game changer misses. Joesph as our number 9 for the season can/should not be missing the target one on one with a goalkeeper. it was criminal he didn't make the keeper work I know he's young but let's be honest here he bottled it. if that was Bamford he would of got crucified I'm not a one for calling players out but its funny how some of the more vocal fanbase see nothing wrong with Jospeh's miss but if it had been bammers they would be chocking on his name with verbal's. Willy can/should not be even getting anywhere near the goalkeeper from where he was on his chance. everyone misses its part of the game as nobody are robots. some are unlucky misses some just damn right headscratchers and Saturday both were headscratchers. We also need to work on breaking teams down which is the coaching department if they can't fix it which I haven't seen from last season to this season so far its either the coaching staff aren't good enough or its the players who aren't. You can count on one hand the chances Teams need to score against us. It feels like we need a calculator to score against them. I'm still waiting for that big howking we gonna give someone sadly I'm still waiting for that even for that from last season. Overall I thought we were very unlucky on Saturday nothing fell for us but how many times do we say that in a season? why can't we even out the pull it's so frustrating.
I agree finishing is the perennial problem with this team, however that does suggest that we can break teams down, take Burnley for example, Joseph (who’s missed two sitters now) and Gnonto should have scored, there’s the win right there. If the ref had given the penalty as he should have, then possibly there’s daylight between the teams. Being more clinical (or composed) in front of goal has been the issue under every coach including Bielsa, whom we’re surely not calling poor?
To be fair I agree. think its more down to other teams taking us more of a threat than others and alot of teams sit back especially away from home in which we get alot more action in the opposition half then they try to weather the storm by playing counter attacking football. then by us taking a more aggressive mode it leaves the gaps when they attack but still like you say its down to being clinical and most teams are when they do get their opportunities sadly we are still lacking regular in this area. guess its one of those things we are going to have to live with in this division for now anyways. Some days it will just click but % wise its generally the other way around. its not that we are playing bad we just aren't taking our game changing golden opportunities whilst the others do. We move on lets hope this week we will have something to shout about.
