Good Morning. It's Tuesday 16th January, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Are Leeds leaving it too late to bring reinforcements in With less than half of the Winter transfer window remaining, and two players lighter, Leeds fans can be forgiven for questioning why the club have not bought in any players yet? A championship campaign is brutal, and along with Cup games, will see the Whites turn out over fifty times this season. Leeds are particularly light in defence, especially after losing Spence and Ayling. Firpo, Byram, Dallas, Cooper, Shackleton and Dallas are all injury prone, leaving the squad particularly vulnerable in defence. How long can Ethan Ampadu keep on going? He's played almost every minute for Leeds this season, and that's before looking at the shift he has put in for Wales? Archie Gray has just broken through the 2500 minute barrier too (for club and Country). Will they make it to the end? please log in to view this image Top flight duo stung by FFP charge Quelle surprise! Everton and Nottingham Forest have been charged with Financial Fair Play irregularities, and referred to an independent commission by the Premier League! Everton already know the drill. They were deducted ten points last November for similar charges, relating to overspending between 2019 and 2022, but now face further sanctions having overstepped the financial boundaries between 2020 and 2023. The only thing that may save them is double jeopardy! They have already been punished for two thirds of their overspending. Can the Toffee's get out of their sticky situation on a technicality? Who would have thought after bringing in 43 players for a combined transfer spend of almost £300m over the past three transfer windows (not seasons) that Nottingham Forest would find their way onto the naughty step? Owner Evangelos Marinakis is no stranger to controversy. The 56yo gargantuan of a man was (allegedly) mixed up in drug trafficking and match fixing allegations in the past, but nothing will prepare him, as he faces the wrath of the FA! please log in to view this image Is it a risk worth taking Is the punishment of a ten point deduction, and a mediocre fine, a risk worth taking regarding Financial Fair Play? Surely, if your overspending can bring in sufficient talent that equates to at least an extra ten points on the board, then the answer is yes! Everton have already had their pound of flesh from Leeds. They unsettled Wilfred Gnonto during the Summer, and took Jack Harrison away (without even a loan fee paid). To be openly mugged by a top flight outfit is one thing, but surely there blatant disregard for the rules should have been dealt with quicker, and much harder sanctions. Should clubs be fined, depending on their wealth? please log in to view this image In other news... Kris Moore has returned to Thorp Arch, after training with Hibs out in Dubai. Morning all Jose getting sacked should be a good thing, it frees up Llorente from his loan and he can get his move to PSG meaning some decent cash.
Does anyone know how dates for rearranged fixtures like our match against Norwich to accomodate the FA Cup tie are agreed ? We now play Sunday-Wednesday-Saturday with all 3 games at home, which is quite the burden on hard pressed fans in Janaury you would have thought.
Time for one of your butlers to face the boot if times are hard .....my bad probably meant the serfs of the realm
Morning all. Great to see SKY focussing so much on ffp now and last night discussing the January window being thrown into disarray because of it. It seems most clubs are beginning to sit up and take notice. Can only be a good thing
Creswell off to Milwall for 2m. I said the other day they wouldn’t be paying the ridiculous prices being quoted
That's shocking business if true. Loan the **** out and when Farke gets the sack then the new manager might like him. He's got 5 years on his contract. If he performs well on loan then he'll be worth far more than 2 million. Absolute shocking business if it goes through.
If the Cresswell thing is true then FARKE is the problem and mouthing off in the media and calling him out on focus, translates to be being disruptive, and not a team player out there in the wide world. His father was peed off and some fooker in the media as I’ve been saying for weeks needs to go see Evans FFS and get the real story. Milwall are getting a potentially top player and will sell him on to a prem team for a big profit. I believe the Milwall owner stated last week he would put up his own money to get Charlie Cresswell. What a joke Yes FARKE has the right to pick and choose, to drop or sell anyone, but fook me there are times when you need to reign your neck in and think. Hoping this is paper talk
Just playing devils advocate her but wasn't Radrizani going to let him go for £1M and Charlie turned it down ?
Surely if he was as good as some believe then a pl club would have jumped in with a bid of five or ten million. Milwall hardly a move to crow about
