Good Morning. It's Tuesday 13th September, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Lack of policing forces War of the Roses postponement Despite the 200 mile distance between London and Old Trafford, the Premier League and Greater Manchester Police have decided to postpone the War of the Roses clash this weekend. Unlike the Nottingham Forest game, which was put on hold as a sign of respect to Queen Elizabeth II, Sunday's deferment relates to a lack of policing, as the nation prepares for the funeral of our beloved Monarch. There is no love lost between Leeds and the red side of Manchester, and whatever the scoreline, tension will be high, and tempers will fray. Normally for a game of this magnitude, the Police would draft in hundreds of extra bobbies from neighbouring forces to ensure law and order, but most have already been secunded for Westminster duties. Her Majesty's funeral is likely to be one of the largest events the World has ever seen, with hundreds of World leaders, and dignitaries expected in London to pay their final respects. The terror threat must be monumental, especially when you consider the funeral comes just days later after the 21st anniversary of 9/11. please log in to view this image Parisi snub could be blessing in disguise Various media outlets have reported that Leeds came close to signing Empoli left-back Fabiano Parisi this Summer, only for the 21yo to change his mind. The little known Italian has impressed since breaking into their starting line up this term. In 502 minutes of game time, he has gained a whoScored rating of 7.24; higher than any of his teammates. Could it have been a blessing in disguise? Pascal Struijk's performances at left back have been solid, and have led to his national call up for the Netherlands, where he could make his debut against Belgium later this month. please log in to view this image Will Semi-automatic offside technology help Leeds Semi-automatic offside technology is set to be introduced to the Premier League next season, according to an article in 'The Times'. It will not only reduce the time it takes for offside decisions to be made, but will also eliminate human error. Having seen it work well in the Champions League, the Premier League have decided to try it out. An interesting article from ESPN insists that VAR was actually very kind to Leeds last season, and had it not been for Video Assistant Referee, Leeds would have been relegated! "Leeds United celebrated survival on the final day with victory at Brentford, but they might have VAR to thank for retaining their Premier League status -- because the VAR Effect Table shows them relegated." "A couple of factors come into play here as Leeds lose two points without VAR. First there's the home draw with Leicester which goes down as a loss, then the an injury-time penalty given to Leeds against Crystal Palace when the score was goalless; two of the key calls which went the way of the Yorkshire side." please log in to view this image
Morning all. Might have to resort to watching Victimpool tonight such is the lack of Leeds footie. Im kinda lucky as this is semi final time of season for GAA clubs so I have a couple of live games last weekend and this with my local club involved. Its a blessing in disguise this year
miniscule Decisions to the left of them, offsides to the right, onward, onward strode the Leeds noblemen into the safety of king var's camp who sheltered them from the onrushing horde's of championship owners wanting them back to boost their treasure chest ......all hail king VAR...
Morning all Supposedly it takes GMP 900 officers to Police a Leeds V Scum game. Personally I feel that both clubs are being unfairly targeted by them in high places especially as the Chelsea and Liverpool game has been called off but the Everton Game can still go on along with Arsenal vs Brentford. According to reports we're meant to be going in for Parisi in the next Window however I believe that we're meant to sign Wagner from Philadelphia in January as the yanks wanted him to stay to the end of the MLS season.
So by time we play our next match hopefully against Villa well have had exactly a month off since the fiasco at Brentford. That Chelsea win is going to seem a long time ago by then
And as someone else said, table pressure. If others pick up points to either extend or close the gap and maybe send us dropping down the league it could affect the players as the need to win grows.
Liverpool guilty of crowd violence and setting off red flares. Everton fans guilty twice of setting of blue flares. Scousers and yet the police worry about Leeds and Scum fans. Hearts in Scotland plus Celtic fans would cause trouble. Seems to me football could and should have gone ahead and let the small minority kick off. The most shyte loads of fans I have seen were Irish the other night chanting Lizzies in a box
The Irish showing themselves up again eh. That’s the bullshit Twitter headline. Thise games attract a few hundred people, a minority who would chant that ****e. No different to fans singing about the Munich disaster but would that be classed as th English letting themselves down. Hardly. I actually really resent that headline on Twitter generalising as Irish as if its the whole country
Totally see where you’re coming from but… Out of interest I clicked on the RUC/UDR Twitter feed, they’ve got an awful lot of these videos up mate at a variety of pubs and clubs so it’s definitely not an isolated incident and added together it “looks” a lot. We’ve got to accept her passing is not going to be viewed the same by everyone
