Good Morning. It's Tuesday 9th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Two new positive coronavirus results from the Championship

Two individuals, one of which has been confirmed from Barnsley have tested positive for the coronavirus, in the latest round of testing.

With the season set to resume in eleven days time with a West London thriller (Fulham v Brentford), can the authorities guarantee the safety of the players, and manage to eradicate any more positive readings?

The EFL issued the following statement:-

Following the latest round of COVID-19 testing, the EFL can confirm that 1179 players and Club staff from the 24 Championship Clubs were tested over the course of Wednesday 3 June, Thursday 4 June, Friday 5 June and Saturday 6 June, with two individuals testing positive from two Clubs.

Those players or Club staff who have tested positive will now self-isolate in line with the guidelines provided by the EFL and only those who have tested negative will be permitted to enter training ground facilities.

EFL meeting set to have massive impact on Leeds

The EFL is set for their biggest board meetings in their history later today

All 71 member clubs will be voting to decide how League 1 season should be resolved, and put plans in place for the future should a campaign ends early and cannot be completed.

The EFL board are heavily in favour of an unweighted points per game method with promotion and relegation to follow as normal. The play offs would be one legged, not two.

It is expected that Clubs from the third tier of English football will decide to follow the lead of league 2 and bring the season to an end. Unfortunately though, nobody can agree how the remaining games should be determined!

All 71-clubs will vote first. if this is passed (51% needed), League One Clubs alone will vote to decide whether or not to curtail the season.

With so much at stake during these unprecedented times, many clubs are calling for special measures to be put in place!

Barnsley are suggesting scraping relegation in the event of a division being unable to finish,.

Tranmere Rovers have submitted a complex aquasion allowing for margin of error to the points-per-game system.

Lincoln’s would like to discuss how points deductions are applied to the points-per-game calculation.

Ipswich Town would like to make amendments to the play-offs format if the season cannot be completed.

Stevenage would like to see relegation from League Two scrapped if the division votes to curtail the campaign.

Leeds will be hoping that the EFL's proposal of unweighted points per game, with promotion and relegation to follow as normal is approved. It will strengthen their case for automatic promotion to the Premiership should the season be cut short!

    Good morning,

"Ipswich Town would like to make amendments to the play-offs format if the season cannot be completed." - They're eight points off the play offs and every team above them has either one or two games in hand. I can't wait to see what kind of proposal they put forward that gives them a play off place.

Morning all. Elland regarding 2 positive results, If it's backroom staff only then they are easily self isolated and aren't as important as players being infected IMO.<ok>

Good Morning to Matt and co from a sunny but cool Bardsey
So we will get to know what are fate is if the season is curtailed unlikePrince Andrew who has refused to answer questions about his good friend Epstein
So by doing this he more or less is saying I am guilty. However he needs a job so why not work for specsavers because clearly he never sees anything
He also asked his mummy to get us to pay 300k a year for his protection surely its the young girls who need it to protect them from him!
He should bow out and drop his title because he is a disgrace to the royal family

My only question is. If the season still doesn’t finish then do the additional games played count in PPG scenario or from when the season was originally suspended as everyone has played the same amount of games?

Apologies if this is old news.

    Statement.

At an Extraordinary General Meeting on Tuesday 9 June, EFL Clubs voted on proposals in respect of changes to EFL Regulations in the event season 2019/20 is curtailed.

Proposals were submitted by Barnsley and Tranmere Rovers alongside amendments to an EFL Board proposal which were put forward by Lincoln City, Stevenage and Ipswich Town.

Following a vote on each by all 71 Clubs, it was overwhelmingly agreed (by a majority of all Clubs and a majority in the Championship) to adopt the EFL Board’s proposal into EFL Regulations, which nowvmeans the following applies in the event a division curtails its 2019/20 season or it is ended by any other means.

    1. Final divisional placings will be determined on unweighted points per game (if required).

    2. Promotion and relegation should be retained.

    3. Play-Offs will be played in all circumstances but will not be extended (beyond four teams).

Clubs in Leagues One and Two will now meet by division later today to formally determine whether to resume playing the 2019/20 season or opt for curtailment. The Championship Clubs restart their season on 20 June.

EFL Chair, Rick Parry, said: “Whilst it has always remained the Board’s position to play the remainder of the season where possible, the decision reached at today’s meeting follows a full and considered consultation period with our member Clubs. The Board has endeavoured to listen to all views and alternative approaches but understands that the decisions taken will not be met with universal satisfaction from all Clubs.

“Today’s outcome ensures that the League and its Clubs remains as faithful as possible to the previously agreed Regulations and that there is consistency in the approach adopted across the EFL in all divisions if required.

“It is clear that the challenges facing the League from the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic are unprecedented and I thank the contribution of EFL Clubs in making this important determination.”

Very clear for champ clubs and we must finish the season now. Going to be some miffed clubs at bottom of our league. If one and two finish then there will be some very upset clubs who could have gone on a run and got play offs or avoided relegation.

They'd have to have another 47 meetings before they decide on that.

Any remaining games would be worked out PPG. The average would be taken from the total amount of games played / points.
