Good Morning Everyone Leeds Under-23s finished their season in style by beating Birmingham in the PDL National Play-off on penalties yesterday afternoon in front on 8000 fans. Young keeper Miazek was undoubtedly MOTM having performed heroics not only by a series of amazing saves during the game, but also two spot kicks. Is it just me or has there been as much input towards Corberan's team that there has for the first team? Has the first team suffered as a result? Whilst the youngsters shone over the bank holiday, the first team saved their worst performance of the season for the Portman Road finale. We saw disorganisation, confusion between the keeper and defence, Billy Paynter-eque finishing (do you like that?) and a complete lack of confidence! Why have Leeds loanees been such a disappointment this season? Let's look at (Leeds opposition opponents) Derby County loanees! Harry Wilson - 16 goals and 4 assists Mason Mount - 10 goals and 5 assists from midfield Have our loanees let us down? Leeds secured one point from their last 4 games - but why? Tired? Formation been found out? Bottled it? Who has been Leeds most consistent Keeper this season? Is Casilla as good as you'd think he would be for £50,000 a week? Has his defence let him down? Was Peacock Farrell robbed of his place?
Morning all We've had a fantastic season and played some breathtaking football. The last couple of weeks have taken the shine off but its not over yet and we could still defy the odds and get promoted. Anyone who watched the man City game last night cant fail to see what happens when an organised team try and stop a fast, free flowing attacking side. City had 70% possession but failed to break through a solid backline backed up by a midfield defence. Pep like Bielsa only has Plan A and will keep trying Plan A and last night was lucky due to a Kompany screamer from outside the box. Leeds just need more luck in the final third and maybe a screamer from Cooper.... Bielsa came in and restructured everything in the club football related. Corberan had a torrid time in his first season but that was expected. Orta brought in some top kids and by using Bielsa tactics the U23s mirrored the first team and the U20s and U18s also followed suite. The U18s are top 2 and may still win the league. The U11s even won the cup and league. The U23s won the league and got to the semi finals of the Premier League Cup and then won the national League title. Carlos was first to praise Bielsa for his ideas, his formula and the way he has fast tracked U23s into the first team. Kids to watch out for next season who I expect to make an impact in the first team: Aapo Halme was a giant yesterday and played a blinder. - Brought in by Orta from Finland Pascal Struijk probably close to MOM performance and has had a great season as a centre mid or CB - Brought in by Orta from Ajax kamil Miazek was actually MOM and pulled of heroics in real time but his 2 penalty saves wow. Orta again from Poland. Jordan Stevens switches wings with Jack Clarke and can be unplayable, fast and mesmerizing skills. Orta brought him in from Forest Green Rovers. Kun who is a big hulking striker but has pace and skill - Orta from Bulgaria Bogusz had a great game yesterday and was unlucky not score from a free kick. 17yo and will play first team soon. - Orta from Poland Hugo Diaz has skippered the U23s for most of the season & another outstanding CB aas well as playmaker - Orta from Deportivo
Elland January window is what cost you just that little bit of extra quality brought in you could have been a premier league side now dont you think ? IMO
What do you mean our loanees have been a disappointment, they won the league they played in apart from Harrison.
Good morning all Makes me wonder about our defence,as a similar situation seems to be arising to when BPF was in goal.is it possible that janson, ayling & co are losing confidence in what's behind them, and it's now showing. Casilla on 50K a week,is he worth it atm,i think we all know the answer to that.If a regular league match was approaching,i would be tempted to give Miazek a run out,for experience if nothing else,as he seems to be earning a chance, but now is not the time. & yes the loanees have been dare i say it a waste of space, particularly Harrison.I am a huge fan of Bielsa, but he sticks stubbornly to the same under performing players,in most teams you have to earn you place, but apparently not at Leeds, what a chance on sunday to blood in some of the youngsters,to see how they would perform in a pressured first team environment, don't know if or when we will actually see any of these promising players perform.God help us at this moment in time in the play offs,my worst nightmare would be after all what's gone on this season with Derby & fat Frank, that they knock us out,i have had to endure some bitter dissapointments being a Leeds fan over the last 50 years or so,but i can't or dare not think of how i would feel if we lost this one, just hope Bielsa and the team start to fire up again for the play offs.
Agreed and good morning all. Ill be away for the weekend in beautiful Cork so unlikely to see the first leg. Maybe well field all the under 23's and theyll stuff Derby by five or six
Good morning all... We never burnt out like many predicted but the players did start to play like they did last season. I blame it on the strikers not putting the chances away, Tyler Roberts looks good at times but our goals from 9&10 are abysmal
Loan players this season have been few but for me a waste of time. Blackman arrived unfit and by the time he was ready to take over from BPF he got injured and sent back. Baker played badly everytime he came on and couldnt cut it so left us in December. brown arrived injured and spent 6 months rehab and has only 1 minute if first team football in a whole season. Yes brilliant for the U23s but wasnt even in the team yesterday? Harrison has flattered but no consistency, lack of end product and lack of goals Interesting to see what happens this Summer
Miazek was released by his previous club and signed on a free, essentially as cover. By all accounts he had a great game yesterday, I’ve barely seen him to be honest so don’t know if that’s the norm or the exception. I do know the club had him behind BPF and Huffer and he’s older than both, but if he’s improved? Hey you pick your best players. Distribution is key with bielsa ball and I think BPF and Casilla are the two keepers we have most comfortable with the ball at their feet... but could be wrong... as said, only seen glimpses of miazek and huffer.
This sounds a bit like a victor love-in. Seeing as we bought in a a staggering amount of u23s and ‘first teamers’ When orta first came, its hardly surprising that his signings featured, an awful lot didn’t. Credit where it’s due, the u23s have done great but let’s remember that the purpose of the u23s is not to win games but to prepare players for the first team. Nice to do both obviously. There are some good prospects there, no doubt, proof is which ones can successfully make the step up. Btw, Kun is about 5’5 I think... big and hulking?
Unlike some, i’m always happy to engage in a bit of Leeds/wall banter. Just a shame you bugger off whenever we win. The health of Leeds sad a club is inversely proportionate to the number of visits on this site from the wall!
purely coincidental mukka it was ELLAND keep texting me to come back four times a day that finally swung it
