Good Morning Everyone Luke Ayling is set to be sidelined until the New Year according to Rob Price, (Head of Medicine and Performance). “We are all disappointed for Luke but the prognosis could have been worse, the injury to the ligament is isolated and the rest of his knee is fine which is encouraging. It is our job now as a medical department to work closely with the player and get him back involved as soon as possible, stronger than ever.” Leeds U23's beat Hull U23's yesterday lunchtime at Thorp Arch courtesy of goals from Edmondson and Harrison. The good news is that Douglas and Harrison came through the game without any injury problems, however Edmondon has picked up a knock which will sideline the youngster for a few weeks. Craig Bellamy has been talking to Sky Sports predicting Bielsa's departure next year! He told Sky Sports’ The Debate Podcast “He’ll go and pick a team, and he’ll do a project for a couple of years. “The first year is unbelievable, the second year is brilliant, the players are worn out and in the third year he’s not there, he’s gone – he walks away at that right time, because he knows the way he demands the professionalism, the way he works them, he knows there’s a short time period on that.” “Leeds should enjoy him this year, maybe enjoy him for next year, because you won’t see him any longer than that.”
Morning all Dont give a toss what the gobshyewelshtwat has to say about Bielsa. If his prediction is right we get promoted this season, have an even better season next year and then Bielsa walks>>>>>> One story that seems to have legs is a Spanish player called Ibai Gomez who is having a fantastic season at Alavez (Near top of league) wanted by a couple of top Spanish sides but also Leeds. He has refused a new contract and could walk in the Summer so could be a cheap buy in January. The biggy here is that I have seen this story a few times over the last 3 weeks and he is one of Bielsas players from Athletico Bilboa that destroyed Man Utd and most of Europe. He also knows how to play Bielsaball and loves the old maestro? Tom Heaton seems to be doing the rounds too due to the fact that Burnley now have 3 top keepers, and maybe Bielsa not happy with our 2? Oh and in case you missed my post late last night Prijavic scored again to put his team top of the league and makes it 7 goals from 8 league games and 12 goals from 16 in total. CL qualifying, CL and then Europa League
Good Morning to Matt Doc and co from a dull cold Bardsey How unlucky to get Edmunson injured yesterday how long will he be out Doc Ay least we have Douglas bac k and Harrison but Shackleton should replace Ayling for me Have we any videos on Gomez and Prijavic Doc Lets hope we hear no bad news over the incident with Pontus and Dawson on Saturday
Good morning Matt & all Our engine will splutter without an essential cog in the side. I don't expect us to cave in as we did last season, that was down to poor management. Simple fact of the matter is Dallas or Shackleton are not as good as Ayling in that role as are the majority of our back-up when we incur injuries to key players
I was told Saturday about Gomez, his wage could be the stumbling block, but from what I was told, the club are being told that shirt sales etc would comfortably cover the difference of what they want to pay to and what he's on. Also he wants to play with Biesla again and said he is confident he'll be the difference between maybe to definite promotion and that he is prepared to take part of his wage in the bonus of going up.
Afternoon all...late start today due to broadband/Internet malfunction....Apparently there's been some problems at the BT exchange, all seems to be OK now. On Bellamy, just another washed up tos**r spouting crap in the hope of justifying his wages from sky.
Afternoon all. Before we diss Bellamy completely, it’s worth mentioning that Bielsa hasn’t stayed in club management for more than two years at any club he’s managed. Only done so in international football.
Before we believe Bellamy it would be useful to know what % of Prem and Championship level managers stay into year 3 and what the average time a manager is in place - what he’s said is Just a truism, it has no value as it could apply to so many, for all sorts of reasons. In any case, if Bielsa is still with us in yr 3 it’s because he’s got us promoted, and that would give him a completely fresh challenge, just like moving clubs.
As WCD says this is happening right now as he rejigs the whole academy regime, the coaching, medical team, set up to give us something fairly unique outside of Man City, and a few worldy clubs Who’s to say Corberan isnt our next manager, as it seems we have the U18s and U23s top of their leagues and this time season before last the academy teams were shyte and coming last. Orta and his finding of top players backed by Radz money, and then bringing in Corberan. Now we have Corberan brought into Bielsas top team as his assistant and in charge of coaching for the Academy teams so they all play Bielsaball
Really like the idea of training the next manager to continue the system, rather than new man, new ideas, new players 3 years before it works, that's even if he's given that long.
How come every time we need a player he gets injured.not sure how bielsa sees big ed but now we dont have him to call on.too many games too much training this is becoming a theme.
More stuff on the Gomez story https://www.goal.com/en/news/leeds-...with-alaves-winger/1g7a673a5cdii1lhm1inhud5x6
Doc, I think you are right and Corberan is the succession plan when Bielsa calls it a day. I hope though he signs a new contract because, as Forza said, not will mean something special is happening at the club. I just wish we could put another run together like at the start of the season to take us points clear at the top.
