Good Morning Everyone Having rewatched the debacle from Elland Road at the weekend, it is clear that Roberts gives every indication that he’s about to kick the ball out of play! He didn’t and threads the ball to Klich instead! That is the only thing wrong that Leeds did on Sunday. Agree? A strike from Kun Temenuzhkov deep in the second half of extra time secured a 3-2 victory over Coventry City and safe package into the PDL National play off final. Bailey Peacock-Farrell, Izzy Brown and Jack Clarke all started the fixture, though Brown got injured and had to be replaced by Edmondson. Gotts and Edmondson were Leeds other goal scorers! Brown was clattered early on in the second half, and unable to shake it off, was substituted by Edmondson. The Chelsea loanee then disappeared down the tunnel (never to be seen again). Paul Merson has told Sky Sports that Bamford could have ‘stitched’ Leeds United up for the rest of the season risking a two match ban for simulation. Merson said: “Patrick Bamford, what’s he doing? He could stitch Leeds up for the rest of the season, because he’s their only centre forward. He could miss the play offs. Do they know there’s a million cameras there? “These have done great this season, Leeds. Now they’re going to lose one of their best players. On his day he’s a special player. Now he’s spoilt it and probably his reputation.” Agree? Leeds United starlet Niall Huggins has agreed his first professional contract! The highly rated forward, 18, is managed by former White Ian Harte.
No, Roberts did nothing wrong in that situation, none of the Leeds players did anything wrong. That Villa stopped playing and Leeds scored a goal is their own fault. However, what Bamford did was a disgrace and he should get a ban for it.
Not that bothered over Bamford being canned for the remainder of the season, he is lightweight and don’t rate him, give the U23 lads a chance they won’t do any worse, in fact they will give there all.
Morning all. Fair play to the U23s but word of caution. They’re playing several levels below first team football in a pressure environment and to expect any of them including useless brown to step in at this crucial time of the season when they couldn’t manage it earlier is simply wishful thinking. We know basically what our team will be for next two or three games and must get on with it. We’ve a threadbare squad and everyone there Sunday had the same thing to say and all agreed January window was a fiasco. We’re still there though and confidence is higher having seen how we handled an in form villa team
Bamford may get a ban and why Bielsa was looking at Izzy Brown up front last night. He has taken plenty of stick from oppositions since he started playing for the U23s and deserves respect for the way he takes the stick. He has played through pain after being taken from behind countless times and all because he stands out. I know many on here have no time for him because he hasnt made the first team, but on sheer class he has it in spades. Not sure hes a Bielsa player however as I dont see him busting a gut for 90 minutes. His touch last night in the box was sublime and he can split the defence which we haven't done enough. He was careless on a couple of occasions as he lost the ball and blazed 2 good chances wide. Kun and /or Edmondson my preferred options up top although kids and could be bullied
Merson is one ex pro I don't mind listening too, never seems to have an agenda like some, often says it as it is. Pretty much spot on again. Well done again to u23's. Totally agree with Eire, massive difference playing for the u23's ,as opposed to high pressure championship play off games, Roberts would have to play up top I suppose. I'm sure the FL will do all they can to suspend their deccision so Bamford misses 2 play off games, rather than Ipswich and just the first game.
Morning all. Got back after 12 last night after another plane delay. Great couple of days and great to meet up with OLOF, Chesh, Davy, Wakey again. Regarding Bielsa's decision. I don't see how he was allowed to make that decision and TBH I'd have not let the twats score and also Bielsa has to remember that a lot of supporters pay good money to see their team win. If we are talking ethics, maybe Villa should be looking at themselves.
The referee is responsible for stopping a game and gave no indication that play should stop. Villa player injured himself in trying to hack down Cooper but biased sky reported it the other way round... ****ERS. Villa players who attacked klich should be punished and bamford too should be punished for pathetic behaviour. Referee was very weak and had no control over the situation. Another game where we had 26 shots but only scored one. How the **** are we going to win play offs is beyond me with roofe out and bamford banned. However this might be a blessing as neither of them could score in a brothel based on current form but **** knows who would go up front. I live in hope but the month of May is a depressing prospect at the moment.
Morning all. The referee is the person to decide if play should be stopped not the players. Play to the whistle could not be clearer. All other options are irrelevant . We are still in with a good chance of promotion, hopefully this incident will have instilled some " us against the rest" aggression.
Big Sam said this morning that Villa players were at fault and like many teams now the failure to play to the whistle is allowing teams to cheat by stopping play, slowing and disrupting play to try and save a point or protect a lead. Its a joke and Sam didnt know if he would have made his team allow a walk in goal. He said Arsenal won a game by scoring a goal like that not long ago.
Not worried if we had to play Brown or Edmondson instead of Bamford, and would take a very big player to bully any of them 2 imo
how to describe him without upsetting a few snowflakes about 7 foot tall with his hair or 6 foot 3 without. Should start against Ipswich
Afternoon all... Bamford banned could be a blessing in disguise, his replacement could earn the goals we desperately seek, if Bamford plays I have zero confidence he will score so whoever takes his place has less pressure, less expectation and hero status to gain.
It makes me laugh to hear the high moral brigade on their high horses. When the Villa manager was at Brentford and their player cheated for the peno, I didn't hear any morals or ethics being mentioned. Play to the whistle.
