Good Morning Everyone Swansea Manager Graham Potter has finally admitted that they are in talks over the transfer of Janiel James! Potter was asked about the deal and replied that “everything is in theory possible”. He confirmed that the club was in talks and said they probably would be until the transfer deadline. According to reliable Sun Journalist Alan Nixon Swansea are holing out for 12m, whilst Leeds bids have been estimated to be between 5m - 10m which include bonuses and add ons. Phil Hay has even suggested that Leeds have already agreed personal terms with James with the following tweet:- Simon O'Rourke@simon_orourke 14h14 hours ago 4m + clauses is what I heard. But also that it’s far from being finalised. All well and good thrashing out a deal with the club but that’s big money potentially and tells the player and his agent what he’s worth. Phil Hay@PhilHayYEP Replying to @simon_orourke they’ve done their homework on wages so that isn’t going to be a problem I don’t think. Key to this is getting Swansea to shake hands. Is this the same player that was estimated to be worth between 2.5m - 3m only a fortnight ago? Patrick Bamford should return to action next week, albeit for the U23's. The 25yo has only managed six appearances, mainly from the bench in what can only be described as an injury plagued season! All being well, depending on whether the former Boro striker can sustain 90 mins, he may well be on the bench against his aforementioned club a week on Saturday! Worse news for Northern Ireland International Stuart Dallas who has been sidelined since December 1st with a foot injury. He has picked up an ankle injury in training which will keep Rob Price and his team busy for the next six weeks. Aapo Halme, Barry Douglas and Tyler Roberts were the stand out players yesterday as the U23's just about edged it against South Yorkshire rivals Sheffield Utd! A goal from Izzy Brown after just 11 mins was the difference between the teams. Although Brown scored, he seemed to tire in the second half showing he is still somewhat off the pace for a first team appearance!
Morning all The James deal may happen because Swansea need the money and James now wants to come to Leeds seeing as hes a Yorkshire lad. Usual garbage elsewhere on the tranny front with agents and journos speculating but getting tight on time now for many deals to happen. The Dan James price clearly shows why its stupid trading in January. Its a sellers market and they can charge what they want because they know you are needing someone. A player valued at £2.5m can rise to £10m in a week which is crazy and why clubs get into trouble. If only Bamford had been fit and Saiz had a straight head and our loan players were as good as their reps.....
Good Morning to Matt and co from a frosty Bardsey Well we he or won't he come toLeeds before the deadline but it appears that we are skint and so to finance the deal we have to sell Jack Clarke and loan him back! All we be revealed by Friday
With 170m carrot on offer we have to improve the team James can give us that bit extra .If we win promotion Doc he will be well worth it
Morning all I'm sure the gaffer said Clarke was not for sale a few weeks ago so let's hope that's that and we don't piss off the new Don. If we get James across the line it's a bloody good window. A little light as always but the quality is exactly what is needed for a promotion push
Morning all. I made this point elsewhere about the famous 170m on offer for promotion. It needs putting into perspective. Average wage for decent pl footballers are around 3 t0 4mm per year. Even 18 players earning that is 70m gone from the kitty. Usually double the staff required to run a pl club, dont know why but whenever a team is relegated they halve their staff and continue to function. Thats another say 5-10m. Signings will have to be 10m plus seemingly as thats the norm and as wed need a sizeable number, the 170m wont last long. There will also need to be bonuses paid from that and you can bet Rad and others will have to get a slice. Easy to see why Spurs, Arsenal etc cant afford to buy in this window and many other pl clubs are struggling to break even. PL is only a cash cow that benefits players and directors. The supporters will end up paying double the money to attend matches, guarantee it. Of course I want to see us win promotion this season but dont expect life in pl to be the financial windfall many believe it to be, unless we could stay for a minimum of five seasons to build. First seasons would be a survival job and might not be near as enjoyable as this season
LUFCDATA@LUFCDATA Something slightly different from me today. I want to highlight the contrast between Leeds' 1st & 2nd half performances this season. I've divided the Champ into first half & second half results (e.g. Leeds 1-0 Preston at HT is a 1st half win). The results are very interesting... First half Championship table in 2018/19 (0'-45'+): Sheff Utd (47 pts) Aston Villa (45) Hull City (45) Derby (43) Blackburn (42) West Brom (41) Preston (40) QPR (38) Nott'm Forest (38) Birmingham (37) Swansea (36) LEEDS (12th on 36) Second half Championship table in 2018/19 (46'-90'+): LEEDS (1st on 60 pts) Norwich (53) Middlesbrough (49) Bristol City (46) West Brom (44) Nottm Forest (44) Brentford(44) Sheff Utd(43) Birmingham (41) Swansea City (40) Aston Villa (40) Stoke (39)
Moning bud well that tells a story to me. I believe without our new fitness regime this squad would not be top of the league. With only two days to go we have inly signed a goalie. Total lack of intent from mr moneybags. Even if we sign a winger all we are doing is gambling on injured players making a contribution.
Jack Harrison vs. Rotherham 49 touches 27 passes 6 crosses 5 chances created 5 tackles won 2 take-ons 1 shot on-target
Good post Matt but if a few of those easy chances had gone in the picture in the first half would be much different and I believe we would be unbeaten. Spurs and Arsenal were not spending big because they both spent big on a new stadium. Arsenal have now got back into the black with regard to the Emirates paying for itself, Spurs have a few years of this to come and are already almost a year behind schedule and increased cost... Everyone else who owns their own ground manages to make money based upon the way the accounts are spread. Eire is right however that Prem clubs are forever waiting for funds coming in to balance the books
Morning all.Interesting, from the first half table it suggests that not much will be happening in the first half on Saturday.
I agree, if we get the James deal done and none of the first team 16 leave then it is excellent business and a great window, the days of selling our Captain each January or being raided by Norwich seem a distant memory already Morning all....
Arsenals ground is paid for Doc and they still cant sign anyone despite season tickets costing in the thousands. Giving the likes of Ozol 25m a year gerts rid of the cash quickly
Shame on you sir doubting our leader. To date in January it appears Radz has tried to sign at least 100 players ranging from 5 to 15m. Thats showing real intent surely
I honestly don’t believe Rads is here for the long term, I have a very strong feeling it is get us promoted and look for a rich buyer. There are three types of club owner, those that love and bleed their club (not many of them about now), those that see it as a rich mans big toy and those that see it as a way to make money. Rads is definitely in the third group. Bates and GFH and Cellino were too, each with their own methods, Bates bleed us dry and skim off the top, GFH clueless mistake, Cellino do it on the cheap thinking him and his sons could do a lot of the work. Rads is the only decent business man we’ve had, he certainly isn’t stupid, he knows what it will take to move us up to the next level and he’ll know he hasn’t the cash to do it. I’ve a feeling the hefty investment in the U23s is his hope of keeping us in the PL for one season before selling us on.
I cant wait to hear how we tried we really really tried to sign some players but the deals fell through. Its not my fault says mr pr spin i love you all.
It’s part fitness and part style of play. When people say possession stats don’t count, they sometimes overlook that the side without the ball is generally working harder, (so i’ve Always been led to believe... never seen any analysis on this) but are likely to be also mentally drained from chasing the ball all match. All things being equal.. if both sides are tired towards the end of the game and gaps are starting to appear... its to your advantage to be the side in possession at that time.
That's why I said they are back in the black and making money every week now. The reason they don't spend is because of the split in owners who are only in it for money. A Russian and a yank at war doesn't help. Ristac one thing you need to factor in is the management team Radz assembled. Orta for a start turned down 2 jobs in the Summer one was back in La Liga with the 3rd biggest club in Spain. I think all of them have mentioned being part of the big project which is a 5yr project to get back to the Prem and consolidate. Yes he is in it for money but not get rich quick I believe. He will also make sure whoever he sells to has the club in good hands. He could sell it now and double his money if he wanted to, but don't forget 49ers in the background
