Good Morning Everyone Neil Redfearn believes that the fixture list is gives the Blades an advantage because they often play before Leeds. Last week, the Blades faced Millwall at 3pm while Leeds took on Sheffield Wednesday at 5.30pm. And this weekend Leeds will again be forced to go into their game knowing if their rivals have won or not. He told BBC Radio Leeds: "I don't think it's fair, if I'm honest. "Particularly for sides going for the same prize and it being such a big prize and what it means. "Both sides should kick off at the same time. "It is an advantage as if Sheffield United get a result it puts pressure on Leeds." Thoughts? Leeds United's Under-23s made it 11 games unbeaten as they drew 2-2 at Crystal Palace yesterday. The Professional Development League North champions guaranteed their spot in the end-of-season play-offs courtesy of goals from Ryan Edmondson and Mateusz Bogusz. On Thursday, Palace (-5 GD ) play Watford in the PDL South, the winner of which will meet Leeds in the Semi final. Development coach Danny Schofield said afterwards: "A draw was a fair result. We’re really excited for the semi-finals [league and cup] now, we want to win both of those and get to two finals." Leeds will now turn their attention to next week's Premier League Cup semi-final clash with Newcastle United as they await to find out their PDL fate.
Morning all The U23 game yesterday was a bit flat and it saw jack Clarke start and be replaced at half time which should mean him being on the bench Friday. Izzy Brown had a fairly quiet game and should have scored, but he too was replaced at half time so not sure if he will be on the bench but betting not. Brown was clattered from behind badly on the half hour mark, and although he got up he was limping heavily for a while. It was an assault rather than a tackle as he was taken out from and the player went right through him. Ryan Edmondson scored his 18th of the season and remember the kid was out for a while too. Mat Bogusz scored again and really looks the dogs and only 17 wow.
Strange that the EFL deploy matches to be played at the same time on the final day of the season so no advantage is gained but at no other time during the season. The majority of the promotion/play-off/relegation issues could be decided by that time. I really don't get the thinking of modern-day football whatsoever nowadays
Unfortunately they do mate You'd think the EFL would have more control though I ditched Sky ten years ago
Morning all. Dont think scheduling of games will have any effect, it didnt on Saturday. Three more weeks and well never see Izzy Browns again thankfully
Double edged sword, if Sheff win, puts a bit more pressure on us to get a win, they draw or lose, it takes that urgency away.
Good Morning to Matt and co from a dull Bardsey Well Mo did a great job giving me my first injection of Wavarin Neil Redfearn is just talking for talkings sake it only matters if we let it I believe we need to win 3 and draw one and we are in the promised ;land and the 3 points is yet more pressure on Sheff I also believe that Villa will rest all their best players making sure they are fit for the playoffs so Sheff will lodge a complaint
Villa won't be resting anyone until they're safely in the play offs, and even then they could be trying to wrestle 4th place off West Brom for the home advantage in the semi's, the only one they may consider dropping sometime is McGinn, he's 2 bookings away from a 3 game ban.
Afternoon all If you have a points advantage I would prefer to play second, the pressure is on the Blades to win as a defeat or draw and we are still above them. If they win we know a win for us and we still go three points clear, better still they lose 2-0 and we know a win by the same margin wipes out the goal difference
