Good Morning. It's Thursday 8th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds reject undisclosed offer from PSG bid for Meslier

French giants Paris St Germain have had an undisclosed offer knocked back by Leeds for the services of French U21 shot stopper Illan Meslier

According to various sources, including the Athletic, Leeds then made their position very clear, so much so that the former Brazilian International has switched his attention to AC Milan's keeper Gigio Donnarumma.

Kalvin is happy with Leeds and doesn’t want to move

After another fine display for the three lions last night, Kalvin Phillips stature amongst the midfield elite continuous to grow; as does the desire for the top clubs in Europe to try and lure the 25yo away from Elland Road.

Phillips agent is Kevin Sharpe, who started his career at Leeds as a left back back in 1992. Although becoming an England U18 International, Sharpe was far down the pecking order at ER, and was eventually sold to Wigan three years later. After his football career came to an end, he tried his luck with Management (with Northwich Victoria and Harrogate Town), but it didn't work out, so he became a licenced agent!

After much speculation about Phillips future, Sharpe has set the record straight, telling would be suitors that Phillips is going nowhere:-

“Before Kalvin signed the final contract, we were so interested that we sat down and looked at all the strengths and weaknesses. “His hope was never to leave, but to stay and play for the team he supported as a kid.

“The contract he signed in September 2019 included provisions for Leeds to reach the Premier League, so everything is ready for the top flight. “We knew it was a bit of gambling, but we knew Leeds would get there under Bielsa, and obviously they did.

“There may be clubs that are actually watching Kalvin right now, because the more successful you are, the more interesting it is to play for England in bigger tournaments, of course. “But Kalvin is happy with Leeds and doesn’t want to move anything. It’s the case of” taking over what you’re doing for the club and the country. ” “

Liverpool have yet again been linked to a move for Phillips, this time with a suggested price of 80m.

Two more academy stars heading for exit

Several media sources are suggesting that Jordan Stevens and Bryce Hosannah have no future at Elland Road, and will be shown the door.

Hosannah joined from Crystal Palace in August 2017, going straight into the U23's, where he picked up many positive reviews. Last season he was sent out on loan to Bradford City. At first things were going so well, that Leeds extended his contact for another season. Unfortunately the 22yo was hampered throughout the rest of the season with hamstring problems.

Stevens too, was seen as an up and coming talent that shone through at U23 level. He was signed in 2018 from Forest Gren for an undisclosed sum. He too had a difficult season on loan, not being able to replicate the form he showed for Mark Jacksons team.

Great to see us knocking teams back and even better seeing people like Phillips and Rapha nailing their colours to our mast. Big money moves would unsettle many players but it seems both have bought into our plan big time.
As we spoke on the young guns on the previous thread it's a revolving door very little will make the big time. The percentage is very low yes alot will make a football career but with us now being a prem club these kids have to be extra special. Even if we just get one or 2 into the first team it's a success.
But the future is looking bright and fingers crossed one of these lads will make a break through season this upcoming season.

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

first off another sad day as we lose 2 more talents, but Jordan Stevens should really be asking himself why he let the chance go. He was loaned out to Swindon Town in L1 but after a blistering start when he won MoM twice scoring and assisting on his debut but went backwards and was basically sent back to Leeds. He was then loaned out to L2 BCFC and sat on the bench for the rest of the season. Bryce Hosannah was a player we went after and won his services. He was the fastest thing at the club and many top players said he was the best footballer at the club and would have a massive future. He was outstanding but after showing everyone just how good he was his next season was basically lost through injury, the next season was in and out due to injury and we sent him on loan last season to BCFC where the manager and fans raved about him and he was first name on the teamsheet. He then got yet another hamstring injury and by November his season was over and was sent back to Leeds for treatment. Bryce is highly strung athlete and if he cannot sort out his hamstrings his career is over.

According to Graham Smyth at the YEP Orta has targeted a midfielder who will be a club record fee again and bluechip statement of intent. The player hasnt been name and it may not come off. Smythy reckons the name may be leaked just as others have done when Leeds have spoken to certain clubs. Lets hope something happens.

the club have now signed Joffys mate McGurk so a couple of top buys for the 23s him and Amari Miller

I'd love it to be James Ward-Prowse.

    Afternoon all

Great win last night, it gives the nation a feel good factor and a boost to the economy with people out spending and enjoying themselves. I probably wouldn’t have got into the Euros if it wasn’t for Philips inclusion.

Great we’re knocking back the offers and as for the U23s, I’m going to take future signings with a pinch of salt. You get told they’re the next “biggie” then a year or two later they’re joining some 2nd or 3rd division team

Not sure which 23s get into the team over our starting 11 tbh and Bielsa sees them everyday at training. I think they’d be in if they were good enough and Bielsa obviously thinks otherwise atm. Most young players don’t get chances unless their are injuries or the team aren’t doing well and when they come up they need to seize the opportunity, this isn’t just a Leeds thing either. I don’t think Shackleton, Poveda or Davis have ever seized there opportunity and they’re met to be the best 23s. I think if we want to keep growing and progressing as a team we can’t just get a 23 to replace a first team player unless they’re exceptional.

I have hardly seen any u23s play so can't really judge the standard. Just know we paid good money for drameh/greenwood /gelherdt etc. So was wondering why we never get good money for ours.. Bogusz being a good example.

Kiko’s agent has today said Kiko loves Leeds, loves the club but needs to play football, so the club have agreed to send him to La Liga on loan. Club to be confirmed

So he won’t be completely off the wage bill. With finances in Spain I’m guessing we’ll have to pay part of his money.

Maybe its just me being an imbecile but as far as Im concerned Southgate is useless. The media are having a ****fest over Southgate because he says all the right things Blah blah blah. Last night proved he doesnt have a scooby and got his tactics all wrong. Pickford was a headless chicken and didnt know how to play against the press, so just launched it into touch or up to the Danish defenders who just sent it straight back at us. Terling for me was a greedy twot. Saka besides the goal he made was useless and should have been replaced after 20 minutes. Kane was always to deep in the middle and not available for squared passes into their box.yes great win, but with that bunch of players even Wakey would pick a team to beat the Danes

got to agree about sterling and saka. i wanted saka off too.he looked like a little boy lost.england do not play good football and are boring to watch.the final will be a borefest with italy being the oppo.as for picking the team i would have started the drunk driver over saka.kalvin tried to show them how to keep the ball but it got lumped too often.sancho is not being used so why did he not take bamford at least he can play football.

So will Elia Caprile be promoted to Meslier stand in or will we bring in another keeper to replace Kiko?
