Good Morning. It's Thursday 15th May, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Leeds prepared to play hardball in Solomon negotiations Leeds have emerged as the frontrunners to sign Israeli international Manor Solomon this summer, capitalising on Marseille's withdrawal from the race. Having witnessed Solomon's impactful loan spell firsthand, the 49ers Enterprises are eager to secure his services and bolster their attacking options. Spurs are keen to offload him, but are holding out for a £20 million transfer fee. However, with Marseille's initial interest cooling, Leeds stand alone as the concrete suitor, giving them a significant advantage in negotiations. Leeds are reportedly only willing to offer £15 million. With no other clubs currently vying for his signature, they can afford to play hardball and potentially secure a bargain for the talented winger. For Tottenham, this presents a challenge. They initially acquired Solomon as a free agent from Shakhtar Donetsk two years ago. Unfortunately, a frustrating knee injury significantly hampered his progress, restricting him to just six senior appearances Despite his injury setbacks at Tottenham, Solomon's loan spell at Elland Road demonstrated his resilience and determination. After a cautious start, he gradually overcame the effects of the injury that had threatened his career. please log in to view this image Whites make contact with Walker-Peters Leeds United have made contact with Southampton and England wing-back Kyle Walker-Peters regarding a move to Elland Road this Summer. The 28yo is set to become a free agent, has garnered attention from various clubs both domestically and internationally. Given his established Premier League pedigree and experience with the England national team, the question arises: do Leeds realistically have a chance of landing him? One of the key factors working in Walker-Peters' favour is his proven durability. With an impressive 148 Premier League appearances under his belt, he’s demonstrated a capacity to handle the physical demands of the league, a significant upgrade over current options like Sam Byram. His consistent availability would provide Leeds with much-needed stability in their defensive ranks. Walker-Peters' versatility is another appealing aspect. Described as a "beautiful" footballer by former manager Russell Martin, he mirrors Byram's ability to operate effectively on either flank. With over 50 career appearances as a left-back, he offers tactical flexibility that would be invaluable to Leeds' manager. Furthermore, he could provide healthy competition for Jayden Bogle at right-back. Despite playing for a struggling Southampton side this past season, his performances in the Championship showcased his quality and resilience. Introducing that level of competition can only elevate the overall performance of the squad. On paper, Walker-Peters appears to be a well-suited and attainable target. Restrictions in Financial Fair play will limit Leeds spending this Summer, so picking up some reliable freebies will undoubtedly help their cash flow situation please log in to view this image
Morning everyone flying back from greece today and my view is the 49ers will bargain hard and pay as little as possible which i agree with.
Morning all Walker-Peters on a free transfer is a bit like for like with Firpo so it seems a no brainer. I can't see any other PL team paying £20m for Solomon, we should hold out on the £15m - Review it if anyone else meets the asking price, caving in now sets a bad precedent in future targets and teams trying to take us over a barrel Looks like Orta is getting the sack from Sevilla
Don't worry guys, Paraag does 'contracts in his sleep' remember. Go off on holiday and come back at the start of the season with the comfort of knowing we'll have an outstanding squad bursting at the seams with hidden gems and undervalued quality. With cash in the bank for January to support the push for champion's league.
Brighton paid £40m for show pony Rutter so Solomon is worth every penny of £20m. If we dilly dally and delay we’ll lose him to someone else.
Given where Tottenham and scum are likely to finish a champions league "place" is well within our reach
Morning all. Is it the new season yet then? Oh no its not.. Any players coming in usually come in relatively late on with the 49ers so I wont expect anything else this time around. If something happens quick then I will be surprised.
Transfer window opens early this season due to the World Club championship, I thinks it’s June the 1st for 11 days then closes for a few days before opening again I did also read that the second half of June would fall under a new set of fair play accounting dates, we have somewhere around £56m to spend before then but it would be much better to have some player sales first Eire or someone pointed out last week, it’s getting to the stage now where you need a degree in Fair Play to support your team
Why get taken for a ride and pay 20m when 10-15 is what we want to pay? If we only have 100m we need to be careful with our spending. We already have 2 left wingers in Gnoto and Ramazini so it’s possible we might go in for a right winger instead. If we do sign Solomon it wouldn’t surprise me if we got rid of Ramazini and bought another right winger in e.g Hutchinson/Maeda. Also, anyone find it weird that we keep being rumoured to new RBs when we have Bogle/Schmidt and Byram? You’d think LB would be the focus.
Meslier Geldhardt Gyabie Greenwood Harrison Bamford Crew I would hope that we manage to sell all of those players, I'm not sure of their value, maybe £20-£25m I would imagine we will see 2-3 first teamers also departing, it all depends on how many we are really bringing in. If we bring in Longstaff and McAtee for arguments sake, surely we will move on either Gruev or Tanaka. If we were offered £8m for Gruev and we could sign Rothwell for £1.5m would that be good business I wouldn't want to sign Rothwell but it's close for me who I would prefer to see in the team We have been linked with at least three different CBs if we were to sign them all, then Wober and Struijk cannot both expect to stay It's going to be interesting as it unfolds
I guess the thing with Solomon is (and we don't actually know any of the real figures being discussed) who else better could we get for the price. Let's say it's £15m. He's 25, in his prime, his knee seems ok now. When fully on it, he looks PL class. He's spent a season with the team so we know him and he knows us, the playing style, the manager. He seems settled. There are a lot of the 'unknowns' in transfer deals that are 'knowns' with him because of his time with us. So who out there would be worth the risk instead of him for £15m? What about @£20m? @£25m? I don't know the answer, but I know that's the question Personally, if they're good with his health profile I think he's great value @£15m... and I'd need to have some alternate names put top me who are available @£20m before i questioned whether he was poor value at that price either.
Surely a big plus to signing Soloman is we know what he brings to the table and like Pablo can score a gem or set one up from nothing. Spend 5m less and we run the risk of a new signing working out. If we can't manage 20m for him its a poor affair. Plus when you break it down over the usual instalments, Spurs are looking for 4m a year an were offering 3m. Hardly worth squabbling about
