Good Morning. It's Thursday 13th June, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Tractor boys set for Rodon swoop Ipswich Town look set to steal Joel Rodon away from Spurs, and break the hearts of the Leeds faithful. The 26yo Welsh International was one of the stand out stars for Leeds last season, and frequently put his body on the line, making him a favourite, both on and off the terraces. The Whites have been negotiating with Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy, desperate to keep Rodon at Elland Road for at-least another season, or preferably a permanent deal. His glittering performances did not go unnoticed from his parent club, who exorcised a clause in the centre-back's contract, extending the length of his remaining terms by another twelve months, until the Summer of 2026, and therefor increasing his valuation. Whilst £12m-£15m doesn't sound like much for a play of his qualities, it's money that Leeds can ill afford to splash out, unless they want to risk the wrath of falling foul of financial fair play rules. Various Leeds bloggers have commented that it's just a bridge too far, especially for a defender, unless the club were to sacrifice one of their mainstay players. please log in to view this image Could Leeds bring Roberts back next season According to 'The Athletic', Leeds are exploring the possibility of bringing Conor Roberts back to Elland Road! The 28yo right-back joined the Whites in January on loan from Burnley, but only played a bit part (343 minutes of game time), partly because of picking up an injury whilst on International Duty with Wales). It would make no sense for Burnley (following their relegation to the Championship) to loan him to a competitor, vying for the Championship title. The Clarets value him at £7m - £10m, which seems extortionate for a player of his limitations, and thats before considering his £30,000 a week wage packet. Where does this leave the Alfie Gilchrist deal. There is wide speculation that the 20yo right back is open to joining the Whites this Summer, and who knows - Leeds may be able to negotiate a permanent deal, with Summerville joining the Blues as part of the deal! please log in to view this image Farke considers Skipp if Gray leaves Leeds could be lining up a deal to bring Spurs midfielder Oliver Skipp to Elland Road if they lose Archie Gray this Summer! According to 'The Express', Daniel Farke is exploring the possibility of reuniting with the former England U21 midfielder, who helped his former Norwich side win the Championship back in 20/21 whilst on loan. The 23yo only made five starts last season for the North London outfit, so could be surplus to requirements, but with three years left on his contract, let alone his £40,000 per week wages, do Leeds have the resources to make a deal? Various media outlets value Skipp around the £15m, which would be a marquee signing for any Championship outfit. please log in to view this image
Morning all If Rodon joined Ipswich it wouldn't break my heart, he was one of the best CB's last season in the Championship but with the loan system, it's one of the easier positions to replace, I certainly wouldn't want us paying over the odds for him. Remember, Spurs don't think he is good enough to play PL football or they would keep him, he isn't another Ben White I'll be glad when we announce no more players leaving or coming in, I hope we get it all sorted before the friendlies start
If Rodon is a no go, I would be asking Spurs if we can have Ash Philips on loan this year. Every time I watched him for Plymouth I thought he was excellent and, with all due respect to Plymouth, Spurs may see it as a logical next step in his progression. As for Rodon, Ipswich is probably a good move. He was brilliant for us last season and, as a 26 year old full international, I for one, wouldn't begrudge him the chance to see if he can cut it in the Premier League. Having said that, I would be delighted if he came back for another season.
Morning all. Suppose we won’t know most of our loanees till end of August when parent clubs have done their wheeling and dealing
Good old 49ers, anyone wanting Wober pays £10m or he's going nowhere. About time we had someone running things, that have the bollocks to stand up to these players and clubs wanting them for nowt. If we get good money for the rats, then we have to sell fewer of last seasons squad.
He could be pretty win the championship if he does have to stay, particularly if we can’t get Rodon back, saves some money as well.
Am I the only one who wants those that don't want to play for Leeds to **** right off. I don't want to see Gnonto, Aaronson, Wober, Kristensen and the rest in a Leeds shirt ever again.
If Archie loves the club he could refuse an approach, they’re all the same mate, to them it’s a job and if someone is paying double wages they’ll take it. Luke Ayling loved the club, fans wanted him out, over the hill and a waste of wages were bandied about. We loaned him out to Boro he did well, he bought a round of drinks for Leeds fans and cheered us on in the playoffs knowing there was no new contract offer. It works both ways mate, when we think we can sign someone better we’re quick to throw a player on the waste heap. If they can get more playing elsewhere they will. It’s just a fantasy that players play for a club they love.
This is spot on. Archie nearly got cut in half on a preseason friendly, imagine if that had ended his career at such a young age. Earn the money while you can. As you also quite rightly say we’re saying there’s no sentiment in football so we need to move the likes of Cooper on but everyone else has to be desperate to play for Leeds. If they are useful in getting us promoted then use them, if not get rid.
