Good Morning Everyone Has anyone here ever been injured at a football match? The distance between the rows do not offer any room for margin - have you ever topled forward? Maybe you've been hit by a flying pukka pie? Perhaps you've been hit by the ball travelling at 90mph? Its not as unusual as you may think.... Marie Allen@Allen43M Replying to @EllandBack1 My husband got hit on the leg at the game v Rotherham in August. We sit in the front row. Lyndsey Mitchell@lyndseytruth Replying to @EllandBack1 Yes! I hot hit when the players came out at the beginning of a match in 1994-1995 season, my hero Macca belted the ball out and it hit the chair infront and hot me smack in the face. I had concussion! Macca@bigmacca1 Replying to @EllandBack1 Our lasses dad is blind & got hit last year in face, I saved him from another in cup game against Bolton this season. mark Stevo!@markstevo72 @EllandBack1 I got hit in the forearm from a Rudy Austin shot in a pre game warm up a few years back & it was agony thought my bastard arm had snapped Danielle@DaniCharlieLou Replying to @EllandBack1 Got hit in the arm by a stray Michael Brown shot at half time in Yeovil a few years back Lottie@EmeryCharlotte Replying to @EllandBack1 Got hit at the Boro game. Hit the woman two seats along. And my sister. And then ricocheted into me. Happily only my back not my face. Got a pint taken off me by a wayard pass at Headingley once. Benjamin Thornton Me and my mate @ScholesStuart Sore this women last year get full on knuckle balled from Lassoga from about 35yards art pre game last year.... Took her clean out. Benjamin Thornton@BenjaminTlufc Replying to @EllandBack1 Think Bamford got someone against boro aswell while we're talking bout it. Straight cross chops.. Deadly place the kop pre games. LUFC scott@werleeds1919 Replying to @EllandBack1 No but see someone hit with a pukka pie Is it Ok to swear at football games, especially if there are kids nearby? Have you ever stepped in to tell a fellow adult off for using obsene language with children nearby? Should you expect bad language at a football match?
Cant help but swear sometimes, but i would make an effort not too if there was kids about. On the same hand, its got to be expected. Never been hurt at a game, after a game a few times though Morning El, morning all
Morning all if you include the contestants in the people injured at a football match the bell end might be the most vunerable.
Some of the older lads will remember when the big thing at matches was the rattle. I got twatted on the head a few times with some enthusiastic kid swinging the fkg thing. Not much footy to talk about is there, but did notice that the striker we were rumored to be trying for instead of Vydra and Hernandez. Mbaye Diagne a Senegalise striker has already scored 6 goals in 4 games in Turkey and we could have had him for £3.6m even though the Turks were asking for £6m. Apparently his value has now doubled. Lets hope Bamford bangs a few in when next he gets an opportunity. Anyone read the Milner interview in 4-4-2 about Leeds, his heartbreak at leaving, giving up transfer money and owed wages, just being sold to Newcastle when he thought he was getting a new contract......
Quiet day on the Topic thread. I have a big issue with the culture at Football, swearing abuse etc. Its needs to be tackled, but until the authorities tackle it on the pitch it will be continued through to be passed down through the generations in the stands.
Morning Matt and all. Never fell myself but last season was in an end seat and an old fella totally misjudged the step as he was getting into the row behind me. Fell and I took his full weight on my shoulders and neck, felt ok but woke up next day and could hardly move my neck, was in pain for about a week. My young lad tells me to stop swearing. ffs is a favourite of mine, it just comes out no matter who's there, which is probably wrong as I take my lad into the family stand. One match when Sacko played his normal game, he turned to me and said I know why you say it now dad.
Morning all...re swearing at football matches, I agree with you bucks, trouble is, they also hear the same language in the school playground and also on tv so you can't totally stop them from hearing bad language as swearing seems to be almost acceptable with the current younger generation....
Morning Simon, great post!!! Is this something which can be tackled, or has it gone too far? A lot of people think as its football, its fair game??? Saying that I'm sure the same same was said about the racism on the terraces around Britain in the 80's, and that was eventually stamped out, or do we still it on the terraces?
Good morning all, swearing in football grounds is ####ing #### and people ought to be ####ing well ####ed for it
On the swearing front I have to say that it can get a bit embarrassing listening to the abuse and dodgy banter chanted out. Yet in the more aggressive RL games you never hear it and deffo not in RU games. Mind you the players are punished for having a go at the refs and the refs are usually called sir. maybe the FL should start booking players, sending players off, sin binning etc so we get that behavior out of football and maybe the fans will realise it aint that clever . Nobody swears more than me but not at matches
Morning Gessa, I can understand it about Sacko, he looks like he should be a great footballer! Swearing in the family stand!
