Good Morning. It's Thursday 3rd October, and here are the Leeds Utd headlines

Higginbotham - Leeds can comfortably win the Championship

Soccer pundit Danny Higginbotham believes Leeds can comfortably win the Championship this season - if they improve their return in front of goal.

"The one thing I would say about Leeds is if they were more decisive in front of goal, they would win this league by ten points," Higginbotham told Sky Sports.

"I think they are that good. The biggest problem is those missed chances when they are leading. It's just the final third where they need to be more clinical.

"Losing Roofe was big. He was a big part of the way that Bielsa likes to play."

How much do we miss Roofe's contribution?

If you had the choice to buy him back, would you?

Two more stars on the treatment table!

Liam Cooper Jamie Shackleton have joined Hernandez and Forshaw on the treatment table at Thorp Arch following their again against the Baggies on Tuesday night.

Cooper suffered a groin strain which led to him being immediately replaced by Berardi ten minutes before half time. Shackleton will be out for four weeks with a hamstring strain. The 19yo was substituted at half time in favour of Tyler Roberts.

What changes would you make to Leeds starting XI on Saturday

Although languishing in 18th position with just two wins under their belts, a trip to the Lions Den has never been the easiest. We also need to consider that Leeds record in England's Capital is as proficient as a Huddersfield Town defence!

Is this a must win game, or would you take a draw?

    Morning all :emoticon-0148-yes:

Kemar Roofe would have got exactly the same game time as Eddie as Bielsa prefers Bamford. Roofe is an ok striker but how many goals has he scored since his move to Anderlecht? ZERO

Not sure where this story has come from but could be usual paper talk, but its said we are still chasing Abel Hernandez. We spent so much time chasing this guy when he became a free agent from Hull, but he used us to get himself a lucrative deal with CSKA Moscow and we then went for Bamford. Hernandez only played 14 times (3 goals) due to injuries and it was agreed he should leave Moscow, so he opted to get his fitness back and reboot his career and he has done just that so far scoring 3 goals from 4 games.

Should we just bin this guy off and stick with Bamford and Eddie?

    Abel Hernandez
    • Palermo 111 games 36 goals 32%
    • Hull City 99 games 36 goals 36%
    • CSKA Moscow 14 games 3 goals 21%
    • Al Ahli 4 games 3 goals 75%

Bamford will need help on Saturday, he looked out of it at the end of the game Tuesday night, he gave his all, Id think of playing him as the 10 and putting Eddie ahead of him.

    .......................Kiko
    Dallas..White..Berra...Alio (I'd prefer Davis)

    .....................Phillips

    Costa.........Klich..........Harrison

    .................Bamford

    .......................Eddie

I would take the draw now if offered too me, normally I always fancy our chances against Leeds but we haven't learned from last season and sitting back looking to hit on the counter attack works maybe one in ten games, we have no plan B, so are there for the taking unfortunately.

If we were scoring freely, I'd really fancy our chances but unless we get a change of fortune a 1-1 looks likely.

If we win at Millwall then I will start to think it's our year mate

Sadly Charlton was a reminder of last seasons shambles

    I th
I think the team were still feeling sorry for themselves at Charlton because of the Derby equaliser, more confident performance this Saturday after Tuesday's win.

The crowd will 1964 and the players will at the start but if we don't get a early goal they will sit back and let you dictate the game, looking to counter attack, I can't see us winning against you with that tactic, we need to be in your faces from the off but only do that for short periods, I will be more than happy if we get a draw and ecstatic if we have the game of our lives and win, although I'm just not feeling the vibe currently.

Rather than looking back how about spending real money on a prolific striker such as Gayle then we'd definitely go up

Alright we have been in the top two for much of the season but this is the weakest championship in many seasons as proven by the fact the top two have only won two of their last five matches but still remain at above the other challengers.

We haven't anyone who can lace Pablo's boots, the same with Phillips & White no one near as talented if we lost any of those three for a sustained period. Upfront we play Bamford because we only have one striker who can play that role. We are also vulnerable down the left flank. We only have two recognised CB's, Berardi is decent cover. God help us if we had to play Berardi & Ayling as a pair, Luke is not a CB no matter what any fan thinks.

Bielsa plays the same team week in week out because he knows he has only limited quality at his disposal. Just look how we have performed when we've introduced subs of late. Yes Costa, Nketiah, Berardi, Shackleton & Forshaw are all useful (two of them injured now) however our cover in certain positions is not great by any means !

Higginbotham is correct we could win promotion easily if we converted our many chances in front of goal, that's plain to see.
my problem is our injuries, why is it that we always have two or three players at a time out injured, what is Bielsa's training methods, fitness regime, are they tough enough etc.?
I know injuries are part and parcel of the game but we seem to get more than our fair share,
maybe its the effort the lads are putting in, what the **** do I know, think it will cost us in the end though.

We played poorly at charlton BUT, their only attempts on goal, were the goal itself, (a defensive shambles) and a free kick. We still had plenty of opportunities to win the game.

I don't think it's Bielsa's training methods that are at fault, imo. Most of the injuries are widely acknowledged to be impact injuries, and not soft tissue. The latest 2 were - Cooper getting whacked to do his groin, & Shackleton getting clipped when running at full pelt to do his hammy. Both impact. Even Bielsa has remarked on the number of injuries - he's clearly seen nothing like it in his career.

I've had a little insight into their training methods too. I think some of us might have faced a regimen of running, running, running in our day. All different now. A lot more time is spent doing routines - shape, dead ball, keep-ball circles, that sort of thing. Running, yes there's some of that, but it's mostly pre-season where they get hammered with a lot of it. They're more likely to be in the gym, doing a bit of weights, a lot of elastic band work, and loads of stretching. On top of that, there's the time allotted to sitting down in the classroom for tactics, opponent analysis etc. It's changed days. They're on a maintenance regime now, and the days of a trainer battering you with a big stick to run faster & longer are well & truly over.

I might have been a contender with Bielsa, because apart from not being able to tackle, head, pass, shoot, or understand what the hell was happening all around me - I couldn't run. If only I'd met Bielsa! :D

Indeed, Charlton didn't need to do a lot to beat us apart from working hard

If we get an early goal, your fans will start to get on their backs, very surprised to hear the wallies booing their team for passing back.
